Running co2 in sealed room but smell is an issue!

I got a 10'10'10 that is completely sealed off. At the moment I have 2x 1000w lights with digital balast. Im running co2 with a controller to keep levels at 1500 ppm. Temperature's are not really an issue staying around 85°the during lights on and 65° while lights are out. I have a 6" inline fan with carbon filter that exhaust for 10 mins every 90mins. The issue I am having is smell. I have another 6"inline w/ carbon filter coming. so I was wondering if I set my 6"in my room with the filter on the floor with the fan sucking air through the carbon filter scrubbing the air to help reduce smell. Will the co2 being produce get affected if it is getting sucked through the filter and exausted right back to the room? Or will the co2 stay the same? Any feedback will be great, will give rep for any answers. Thanks and happy growing!

man just scrub the air and dont exhaust you dont have to you have a controller. also on a side note i am a firm beliver in fresh air in combo with co2 so still get the other filter to exhasut out a lot of nay sayers will say just seal it up but its up to you

I agree.....I run mine to just cycle the air in the room without exhausting it, and it helps the smell big time, and has no effect on my ppm numbers. You could even put it on a cycle timer to run 15 on 30 off or something to save electricty.

I have mine hung from the ceiling though to help blow air across the ceiling to keep the room temp even.

I don't exhaust at all. Room is divided in two and I have 2 filter/fan combos circulating air between them. My temps get a little higher than yours (4kw) so I have a dual hose a/c to keep it around 85. Dual hose means no air leaves the room.

Yeah I thunk I figured it out thanks to all of you're fast replys! I'm going to just disconnect the ducting from the 6"inline I already have and just let it circulate the air up top and scrub it clean, then ill take the other one and set it on the floor on the opposite side of the room. Hopefully that should do the trick. Maybe ill save some co2 also. I just blew through a 20lb tank in 5 days running consistently at 1500ppm while the lights are on. Does this seem too fast to run out? Thanks for everyone's help. This is my first time growing and I want nothing but the best. I've done alot of research and reading and have learned alot. I might start a grow journal when I have time, but right now I'm supper busy working 48in hours a week and going to college full time + growing 25 plants with a harvest of 4 plants every 2 weeks. Of anyone has any cool ideas let me know! Thanks :)

yes thats too fast you are leaking or they are not filling your tanks all the way up a hydro store around me just got me last mo. my tank was supposed to last 5 mo. the way i run it, it barley lasted 3 weeks, needless to say i will never shop there again and if i ever get the chance i will steal 20$ worth of product from them.(and i dont steal but they did it 2 me 2x)

What should the psi be at on my regulator when I crank the tank wide open when its a freshly filled tank?

Is your regulator Brand New?? Most will instruct you to back it to 30-40PSI the firt time you use it, after that I never touch mine.

Your tank should last at least two months I think something is wrong you may have a leak. get some pipe thread tape and tape up your threads on the tank. If you have constant co2 leaking it can kill you so make sure you get this figured out before you continue using it..You should put your regulator on a timer to shoot the co2 for a couple minutes every hour during lights on . they make some digital timers that have settings all the way down to 1 minute . I have one that i can program to come on 8 times for two minutes I adjusted the regulator gradually testing every few hours with a co2 test kit. they get expensive for the test tubes but when you have it figured out you wont need to test any more.

No that sounds right, I have a green house Co2 controller and monitor and I go through a tank every 6 to 8 days. The controller shuts off the Co2 when fans come on and cycles every 20 min on it's own to keep it at 1800ppm. I run high as the room size needs a little more to reach 1500 ppm in the whole room. Just want to mention that your carbon filter ability to scrub air is effected by high humidity. I run sealed rooms and exhaust outside only when 95 degrees is reached my backup fans come on. I use chillers for cooling they are far more effective than AC.

You would smell it but checking is good, put some soapy water on the connection and if it bubbles run for the hills.

You cant smell co2 its odorless gas That's why I said use thread tape

He is using BBQ tanks not Co2 tanks to produce the Co2. So if there was a gas leak you would smell it. You are right you can't smell Co2 but you would burn your nose hairs if you tried sniffing the burner LOL

dude nobody running a gas business is going to fill a propane tank with co2 . do you know they make 20 lb co2 tanks? I have one myself and the gas is odorless the op never said he used a BBQ propane tank for co2 Nor did he say he used a co2 generator so I assume op is using a co2 tank

Well i have the cap ppm3 co2 monitor so i dont need those test tubes. (thats why i went with the monitor, i dont have time for science experiments) but thanks for the reply. And yes my regulator is brand new, it was the first time i put it on my tank, im getting my tank refilled tomorrow morning because know one is open on the weekend! urgg. but ill take the soapy watter and run it around the threads, (the directions on the regulator actually told me to do that but i never did, it also told me not to use that thread tape so i didnt use any) but i have an airvent on the floor that i think it might be leaking out of because no air actually comes out of it, its right infront of my furnace and their is a vent on the furnace that points down at it so air can come out. im going to seal it up because i have another vent on the cieling that is working good enough to keep my temps where they should be. and if my tank was leaking my monitor would always be at the 1451+ ppm mark, and ive sat in there and watched it go up and down. but i need more co2 to figure this all out so i will let you all know in a few days if i worked out all of the kinks. thanks for all of your input!

Well my new fan and 2 carbon filters came in on Monday. I disconnected the 6" fan I had exhausting out and put the carbon filter on just so it would scrub the air. I put the other 6" fan with carbon filter on the other side of the room on the floor. Bye bye smell! Oh yeah I sealed up the vent that was on the floor and that took care of my quick c02 Loss problem. It was turning on every 10mins for like 515 mins. Now its about every 45min for only 2have mins. Should last me about 2 weeks now.
