Run both Blurple and QB

Is it ok to run a blurple with QB as supplemental in a 2x4? I have a 380w wall draw blurple LED and I want to get a 3000k 100w QB so I get a bigger yield.

currently I am 4 weeks into flower so I need to move fast.


Would this be too Much for a 2x4? I would just put them side by side. I know that one side is gonna get more concentrated light of one source vs the other.

And help would be appreciated.

I grew these using 3500k+660nm + blurple my tent i grew in had a combined wattage of about 54w per sq ft.. youll be pretty close to that adding that light
i move the blurple light betweeen the 2 plants every couple days.. its hard to say how much more you will benefit, but i can say it wont hurt. too many variations to say how much more yield.. i say go for it and when you can afford it or on ur next grow or whatever get a quantum board setup that u can dim down to 40w per sq ft

to answer your question.. no that will not be too much for flowering

I'm with Hyphy, just try it. A QB typically is supplemented with extra reds and blues, and that's exactly what your blurple is, the QB will add some green that the blurple is lacking. 480W is a lot, but 380W of that is lower effeciency LED, so maybe the entire wattage is more comparable to 400W of high effeciency. I'd hang em high and if I thought the plants could handle greater intensity I'd lower them a lil each day till I hit my desired level.

The shape of the lights will make it hard to really get an equal blend of the 2 at canopy, so I might swap sides every week or so.

Most advocate for 35W/ft2 of high effeciency LED. So a 400W equivalent of high effeciency LED is 50W/ft2 in a 2×4, so I think you'll have plenty of light, that's why I recommend hanging high. When you hang lights high it means the stuff under the canopy, if not blocked by leaves, will have greater intensity than than a closely hung light that's tuned to the same canopy intensity as the higher hung light.

that’s what I was thinking. I’m kind of running out of headroom as it is so I’ll have to tie down some branches to my net maybe. But yeah if it’s a true 480w total then that puts me at 60w/ft2 which isn’t too too bad. I’ll admit I wasn’t aware of the ft2 difference between low and high efficiency LEDs like you explained.

Question for both you tho. I have a plant outside still vegging in a 5 gallon bucket. After I harvest my current crop in about 6 weeks maybe I want to take that single plant and put it in my 2x4 and flower it. I may veg it even longer so I can get max yield out that single plant. With so much vegging would I need to transplant it to a 10 gallon pot?

I've heard its impossible to outgrow a 5gal DWC bucket, but I've also seen some huge plants in huge pots. Id ask one of these other guys, when I grew in soil I didn't transplant, what I started with is what I ended with. I think there some risk of transplant shock and not sure when the best time to do that is. I've had 7ft monsters grow outta 5gal coco recirc pots.
