I have a 50 gallon rub with an eco 264 running the water, now my problem is no matter what i do i continually have leaks coming from the sides. I tried adding an extra layer of weather striping, but did not fix the problem. next i tried to cutting the pvc so it was not as high, still did not fix the leak. and actually, every time i try something new it begins to leak in a different spot. never seems to be in the same spot. please can anyone help me, i've been doing this all day :wall:

Can you lift the lid up and take a few pictures of the underside of it? I might be able to help if you can show me your setup.

northeastern lights, that is a sick idea! never thought of using a cooler. give me a couple minutes i'll post a couple pictures up

also, what did you use to drill the holes in the top of the cooler? i used a 2inch hole cutter for the rubbermaid, which i just checked it seems to be an off brand called sterilite??? so maybe that could be the problem

I do have an aero setup (StinkBud Design)

I would use a 2 inch hole saw.

Using the cheap container is the problem. The lid isn't made to be watertight from the inside.
I'd suggest scrapping it and going with a rubberneck or the cooler idea Nlights posted. If your going to try to use what you have, you might try some thin weatherstripping that runs around the inside of the lid as close to edge as possible but not agianst the edge. That way, water will drip back down inside the container instead of leaking under the lid. I'll bet it won't stop it all though.

thanks guys, i didn't even notice it was not a rubberneck. oh well, i really think the cooler idea is enticing. although more than likely i'll entertain myself and try both :idea::-P. thanks for the help guys
