great use of CFLs! I am also growing a GHS trainwreck (actually a clone from the original seed plant) and I fucking love it! I am 1/4 through budding for it, and its doing amazingly!

Why african violet mix?
Well, a couple months ago I was looking to get some soil for planting my second batch of seeds, and I hadn't wanted to buy, and open, an entire 2 cubic foot bag of the stuff I normally use. There are not many soil choices around here (kind of odd really, considering I live in the midwest).Guess most of our planting is done in the ground.

Anyway, I remembered a couple different threads on the forum here, that a few people recomended African Violet Mix. So I got a small bag of that for the babies - and really liked the result, I mean the roots and the new sprout seem to pass through it with such ease. I believe I had 20 thriving sprouts, roots shooting out the bottom of their jiffy cups and ready for their permanent homes, a whole three days after I planted the germinated seed!

Then when I transplanted, I cut open the cup, and it left a soft "cushion" of medium and air around the new roots - so not a single tiny hair was even bent.
Got the same great results with it the second time here - so I'll probably keep doing it forever now. :peace:

Day 20:
These little ladies will be three weeks from seed tomorrow. They already started smelling a couple of days ago. I will be topping them sometime this week.

Thanks! Weekend was pretty good, my hunt got ruined yesterday though - some idiots drove right down in there smack in the middle of it. Had a second when I was sorely tempted to shoot a broadhead into their tire. How was yours?

What kind of yields did you see off of yours? Good smoke? Sounds like they were pretty stable, any hermie trouble ever?

I grew the Alaskan ice and tw at the same time.my wreck was stable and was real good smoke.Ice is a straight up rip off, very unstable plants with so much stretch they were impossible to manage inside,I just harvested 45 tw clones last week in the sea of green.Ive been growing the tw and opium a lot lately but Im running four of subcools strains,Moscas cindy99bx1,pot of gold along with what Ive been growing for the last two years.Ive got a lemon pheno of Mandala#1 that Im firing up now.Thats what I smoke during the day, that or punna.Heres a couple different phenos some from seed an some from clone. If you have any questions about different phenos, Pm me. good luck and peace

You cant force those seeds to hermie and the yield was about an 1 oz per plant but I vegged very little. If you do a decent veg you could pull 3 ozs per plant. Peace

Did Uncle Ben's topping method to these guys before they went to sleep. Scary, scary stuff taking a scissors to healthy babies. Amazing how fast they have responded in a mere eight hours!
Very good work Doe, especially under cfls. Mine have been vegging for 6 weeks and are 22 inches high, just started flowering a few days ago. What I'm saying is your babies are about to take off.

Any idea how long your going to vegetate for? Oh and what color tempurature are your cfl's? They look like 3000 kelvin.:peace:

Thanks! I'm planning on vegging for eight weeks, my flowering room has an eight foot ceiling so I've got space. The CFL's are all 6500K. Did you do the topping as well?

Awesome, wish I had the room for that kind of vegg. I swear those cfl's don't look blue to me, oh well maybe I'm too faded lol.

No I didn't "top", but rather used the LST (low stress training) method, very haphazardly too lol, but effective.

Oh, did you do all the wiring yourself for the cfls? I did some wiring similar to this, I wired eight cfls in parallel to an extension cord, that was a pain in the ass. That was before I got my HID.
