Roots turning green

Hey guys so problem I am running into is my roots turning green on one of my younger plants. I’m assuming it’s like an algae but is it something I should be worried about or just let it dry out more before next water. Does not show any signs of overwatering at all.

The second one I have seems like it is showing light stress but it is 34 inches from the light (viparspectra par600). It’s day 17 for them and I have not fed anything but 1/2 teaspoon molasses for one watering.

Is there light getting to the roots? I notice its a clear cup you have. Roots dont like light.

I do have clear cups but I did but wrap it in paper towel and put it in with a solo cup

I just did that last night so hopefully it clears up

If roots get too much light it can stunt/stress the plant.

Explains why it’s so small haha thank you

Will this lead to root rot?

Light on roots is perfectly ok if kept moist, they green up from being dry in light. It's the signal that says to change to an above ground part which is dry and bright.

Green algae need light too but also moisture, should be easy to tell the difference and work out.

You can get roots from a clone in a cup of water placed in light and see that roots won't turn green with just light alone, they can't sense light.
