Roots Organic Original or 707

I'm sure that this has been asked before, but I cannot seem to find a reference to it. When making SS and using roots organic, which is preferred the original or the 707 blend. I was going to use the 707 blend, but I was afraid that it would be too "hot" when used in conjunction with SS. again sorry if this has been asked before.

I asked my guy at the shop what the difference was between the two...other than the price, the roots original has a wetting agent that the 707 blend does not...everything else is the same

See, I was told the the 707 has a few more amendments in it which is great as a stand alone soil, which is why i was wondering if it would be too hot. but if everyone using roots is just using the original that's good enough for me.

yea the only reason i was considering buying the 707 is because the original has gnats and that shit is super annoying but he said the 707 is gonna have em' too and they sell way more of the original anyway...what im probably going to do is have them order me a bunch of DTE pro mix so i dont have to deal with this bs anymore

Correct, the 707 is an outdoor mix that retains a little bit more moisture than the original. I think due to less perlite and maybe a few other things

On the other hand i like the 707 mix in my smartpots indoors as it keeps me from watering everyday. The fresh batch I put in the last transplant gives them a good little boost of nutes through flower and allows me to keep my bottled nutes a little less on the empty side :D :bigjoint:

Edit:
Since thats usually what I use (ffof if I don't feel like driving an hour :dunce:) primarily, i plant seeds and clones right after they root right into 707 without burning problems.

for my next round in the tents im mixing (1) 3 cubic foot bag of 707 with (1) 1.5 cubic foot bag of original. I'm thinking a little more moisture retention for summer would be nice!

I just switched from coco to soil because I don't have time to water everyday personally. Ordered some SS mix off ebay to give it a shot and got some 707 as recommended by the seller. I have just transplanted some of my plants that were in coco to roots 707 with no issues to report. If I can grow great plants using coco so this SS i'm hoping will give me similar if not better results with less work required.

Here are some of my vid logs on utube:
