roots browning out FAST. +rep for help

I'm currently running a 2 plant dwc drip system made froma rubbermaid tub. I'm using fox farms grow big and micro gold at half strength ph is unknown but water temp is 68f I did a res change monday with a little lst yesterday the roots where white and healthy and today this.

They're turning brownish black and considering it wasn't happening yesterday it looks like its happening fast any thoghts? The res is dark green and I'm pretty sure there are no light leaks in it.

No. The stuff is kinda slimy but the roots seem healthy. It doesn't come off easily though and I'm not one for playin with my roots. Its like some kind of algae but its not on the walls or anything just the roots. The hoses airstones and everything else are clean

only thing i can think of is water temp... which u say is fine
staining by nnutes and light leak
other than that i dont know sorry

Guess ill have to get balls deep in there and try and find a light leak lol.

unless u have a major light leak it shouldnt brown ur roots
but a lil light can promote algae growth

It definetly looks like algae. But it doesn't smell and its not spreading anywhere but the roots. It seems to mainly be the roots hanging between the netpot and the water but some of the ones underwater are doin it to.

it dont sound like root rot since its not mushy and dont break away easy
if its not showing signs above on the plant then let it be

The plants seem fine but it happened sometime over night so they may have just not started showin it yet.

For a second or two while I move them to a spare res I fill with fresh water a few days before. I use that water to fill my res. Everywhere they go is very very freakishly sanitary. Anyone have an idea on what I'm lookin at and how to deal with it? I wanted to flower in a week as they're ok in size and I have no more veg nutes lol but I won't do it if the whole plant isn't healthy :/

but do u think that exposing them to outside air...dusty air...could do it?

Possibly. Not sure what the chances are but I'm open to about anything. I'm not too upset since this was an experiment that I didn't expect to even last this long since I am going at it in the dark no ph or ppm meters. Here's a couple pictures of there better half to lighten my mood lol.

Wat nutes are u using it sounds like it could be nute stains... If I'm right u should be fine.. My girls get nute stains on there roots and they look like u described... Just keep watching those temps but u should be fine some hydro nutes will stain ur roots

i concur...the gh flora will stain....if you notice the water turns a dark burgundy too...mine did the same thing

I use GH Flora and it stains my roots all the time, I'm never concerned about it. as well my roots are often exposed during nute change, i even place the lid and netpot in a seperate container that only slightly diffuses light, thus my roots are exposed to light for a couple minutes, never had a problem.

what kinda nutes are you using as some do send the roots brown otherwise it could be lack of oxygen in the water check your air pump an check for light leaks
