rootbound???

I made a n00b mistake I think and my final containers were 8" pots, one plant per pot. The plants look good to me, and I've just started the 12/12 cycles and noticed all my plants roots are starting to come out the bottom of the pots...

HELP!

I'm no grower but it seems common sense that this could affect the size and fruiting of the plants.

Question is, can I/ should I transplant to a larger pot and go back to 24 cycle until I'm sure the plants are ok, or keep up with flowering and hope for the best...

I thought maybe if transplant, I've only been on 12/12 for 2 days, so not much harm done to go back to veg...but I wanted you guys expert opinions.

Not sure, but could try cutting the bottom of the pot off, and putting it on top of another pot with medium in

thanks...That's actually not a bad idea. May crate less shock? My problem is going to be space. my 8" pots take up all the floor space, so unless I just get more 8" pots, I won't have the space. I just wish I could get them to show their sex a little quicker, then I could eliminate the males...getting some space back.

Anyone else got an opinion?

Some people do this, but it is risky as the roots are probably everywhere. You don't want to cut any roots. I suggest you get at least a 3 gallon container (5 if you can) and transplant into them. You are only on the 2nd day in flowering, so you should be fine. Good luck and transplant ASAP.

If they have only been in 12/12 for 2 days go ahead and transplant. Carefully (maybe with someone else helping) slide them out of their little containers. Have the second person hold them. Using a shape and steralized knife go around the roots (which will be a mass of whatever the pot was shaped like) and just make about 4 cuts that are very shallow. From the top to the bottom. This helps the roots that were growing in circles to get back to a more normal type of growth. Now put into your larger pot and you are done.

thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll transplant, but gotta wait till tomorrow. I am thinking since the shape of my space is a big rectangle, (24 x 48), I can find like a big deep rectangular plastic storage type of container, maybe two, that I can plant multiples into (spaced as far apart as I can). I'm now realizing I am going to wind up short of space, at least until the males show and get eliminated.
I've examined all of the plants (11 total), and have already eliminated one that wasn't doing that well... I hope its not a female, as then I'd feel like a murderer...but also uncovered at least 2 more females (in addition to the one I had), so I am thinking if the need to plant multiples in a container is going to happen, at least I can keep the females I know of grouped. I hope i dont f*#% it up too bad, but what can I say...im a n00b makin mistakes and learning from each one...but that can only help the next grow right?

That brings my next question... can I still perform bending/training during flowering, to both increase the light under the canopy, but also to allow me to train them to go in the direction where there is room to grow?
