Hi, greeting from the real america (massachusetts). This is my first post. I am planning on doing an outdoor grow this season. I have a background in trees and some botany, and if there's one thing i learned through my career, if you take care of your roots, your plant will love you. I am under the understanding that THC production starts in the root system. With this in mind, I was wondering if anyone here has experimented with forcing lower lateral branched to root. Like a reversed super-cropping through layering.
Also, has anyone incorporated mycorrhizae into their soils? I have some residual powdered myc from my last job when i was a plant health care specialist. Is it worth using?
ALSO...now that my brain is humming...when doing fruit tree pruning, it is common practice to put the tree under stress through hard pruning (up to 50% removal for Malas spp.). This throws the tree into a survival mentality, and the result is seed production through apples. That's why wild or unmaintained apple trees bear little to no fruit.
With the understanding that cannibis is a single season deal, the root systems would not have the reserves of complex sugars needed to rebound from a heavy prune. But SOME pruning in theroy would increase flower production. Any experience with this? (I'm talking beyond the standard thinning to remove shaded portions)
ALSOOOO....when harvesting (understanding that all plants, including cannibis, take excess saccharides, change them into starches, and store them in the roots as insurance against drought or defoliation) if you hung the whole plant, including the roots, would the plant not naturally take those starches, break them down into simple sugars and distribute through out the plant making it sweeter?
I have never grown before, but I have always thought about these ideas and I wonder if they hold any weight. Thanks for reading, I know I can ramble a bit.
