roommate got busted; my story.

So this is my story about "my friend" who got raided for either growing and/or selling. It's not all said and done yet so i don't know what he is all being charged with officially.

Anyhow,

I was renting a room in the basement of my old high school friends place at the time for dirt cheap and kind of figured out what was going on after a short while living there.

Dude always had the bomb stanky stank available and always spoke in very accurate "growers terms" about when it would be next available (i.e. 2 weeks it's ready) and it was always on time never delayed as normal business often is.

On top of this I was also getting insane deals on the chron dizzle, which initially i figured was because i was paying him rent and he felt bad but I even then i knew he wasnt making any money off of me. (Buying 2 grams of nugs for 20 bucks where most ppl charge 30).

Kid also always had his door locked even when he was at home and 2 aerosol sprayers in teh main living area so I eventually figured he had to be up to somethin shady.

Anyways one day I'm off work chillin at a friends and a cop rolls by my car super slow. Another kid happens to be there that also most likely sells some green on the side so i figure its either for him or just an odd coincidence.

So i leave to go home and get ready for a sports event that evening and pull into the place while noticing a new and out of place looking jeep grand cherokee in the neighbor's foreclosed home.

for a millisecond my brain said keep driving away but i kept turning into the driveway and parked. the instant i got out about 7 guys streamed out of the front door with pistols and submachine guns and took me inside.

i didn't say much as i wasn't involved and didn't want to rat him out but i spent the night in jail and my roomie is still dealing with the shit in court as of today.

also, i know for a fact the reason for teh search warrant resulted from someone who became upset with my roommate for some stupid reason and knew he sold a small bit of green here and there so he lied to the police and said he was a huge amount of weed and c0ca1n3 dealer and they searched his garbage a few days before executing and found baggies with tricombs on the inside as "proof".

they still have my legal firearms confiscated and my cell phone as of 1 year of the incident, even though i was not charged in the case and simply detained overnight because i lived at the residence.

You should remind your former roommate of his sixth amendment right to a speedy trial.

I can imagine you would like to get your firearms back before they completely rust, but hiring your own lawyer to get involved in this case, is just going to rock the boat for your buddy.

Personally, I would be paranoid as fuck! If your high-school friend was able to keep his growing a secret from you while you lived with him, and was openly dealing around you, he put you in legal danger. There are people in prison for less.

Cops love to seize guns or any other type of weapon, when they bust a mom-and-pop grow. Not only can the statistics be used to justify more busts of small grows, but guns mixed in with reefer plants on the front page of the newspaper is like pornography for pigs, even if they are hunting rifles given to you by your grandfather.

here's what I would do...
-move out immediately.
-take a break from weed, or get a prescription.
-get the charges dismissed against your buddy, without being visibly involved.
-get your guns and phone back, you might need a lawyer.
-If you weren't able to get a prescription, move to an area that recognizes your ailment.
-open up a giant grow op.
-rent your basement to your buddy, after all he grows awesome dope.
-????????????????
-PROFIT!

i'm sorry to hear that, but cops seizing property is very common. you probably won't get your gun back, even if you were'nt charged with a crime. and it's been a long time.

if you're a rentee, and your tennant lives on the property, and you have a seperate dormitory, then your door should've been locked, and your property not touched. if it wasn't locked, they "assume" it's also a common area. what you should've done at the very moment you were approached was tell them they did not have the right to search your car OR your property which is the basement in the house. i would've also asked for a seperate inventory of items seized for the basement and the rest of the house, as the items in the basement and the house belong to seperate people. that would've been your best shot. those records are probably lost, or adulterated by now....

ALSO: it's the "common areas" they can search. if you have a completely separate entrance, then they violated your civil rights by entering the premises, and you could talk to the ACLU about the case, to get your gun back, and maybe a little cash on the side.

lawyer up, and prepare for a hard fight.

All has settled now finally... Room mate ended up getting a short time in the workhouse. I also will be getting my firearms back shortly. All in all a huge hassle, but in the end everything worked out okay. (For me anyway..) Thanks for the advice and everything!

So, enlighten me, what was the actual reason you got raided? What was your friend doing? Small grow in his room?

Just curious as i may be in a similar situation soon when i move house...

Peace! :weed::peace:

Man that sucks. A guy can get 30 years for armed robbery in this country but if you're drunk and kill someone you get about 10.
