I need a little help with the ventilation in my room. I have a spare bedroom that I am using as my grow room. The room is 11ft by 13ft with 8 ft ceiling. It has a ceiling fan in the middle of the room with recessed lights in a 5ftx5ft square. The fans I have are a 6 and 8 inch Vortex fans. Lights are a 400W cooltube and 2 1000W XXXL hoods. How would I go about setting up the intake and exhaust for my room do I need to use both fans? I am willing to make holes in the ceiling!! All your input is appreciated

Depends how strong your fans are but i think you should get away with 1 ............I have one 400 and one 1000 hooked up to a 6 inch 270 cfm can fan.....this is how mine is set up
outside--------->ducting------>400 watt------>ducting------>1000 watt------->ducting------->6 inch can fan------->ducting-------outiside... I make sure the cool hoods are super sealed so no smell gets sucked outside.....I have a carbon filter on the outlet end just in case

I have another 4 inch eco fan hooked up to a carbon filter inside that recirculates the air for odor control.....

my room measurements are similar, 11.5 x 10.5 x 7.5 height. I mounted a carbon can to about 8 feet of ducting going to an 8inch vortex that sits ontop a 8inch hole cut in the floor going into the crawlspace below. Now I have 4 1000 watt HID's in this room that is smaller than yours and I just have the one 8inch fan. I bring in air via 2 passive 4 inch duct lengths. I recommend you do a similar setup, why? cause it's cheap easy to setup and works! my temps are 80-70 (light, dark) You may want to figure where to put a hole for good exhausting and where the hole leads to, then pipe it out and shabam, you have adequate ventilation IMO, it's all I do.

p.s. I use a growzone controller that really helps keep temps regular, the vortex plugs into it and it controls fan speed depending on what you set it to temp-wise, if you already know about these devices sorry for noobin ya out lol

Hey, sorry to thread jack but I think you already got what you were looking for..

I have a similar sized room, but was planning on getting a tent...

Would there be an easy/safe way to just grow in the full size room, WITHOUT the smell getting thru the door and into the hallway?

My main question is how do I get cool air into the room my only option is going into the attic because my house is on a concrete slab. In the summer it gets HOT here 110+ degrees. How would that hot air be beneficial to cooling my room. The setup of my room is killing me it shouldnt be this hard

It's summer time bro! Unless you live in a cool climate, forget about growing inside till mid to late fall. Unless of course you are going to employ some kind of cooling system. i.e a/c, or cool boxes. Take your operation outside. free light and all the love mother has to offer. lol...imho

Your name should be Jackyothread LOL jkng man... Ok yeah you can bust out that whole room forsure and not worry shit about smells or anything. You need to go and buy a 6 inch or 8 inch vortex fan and a carbon filter, hope you got some money, it'll run you around 150 even for a used vortex and same for a carbon filter. The air flow in the room will take every particle of smelly air through the filter and out the room. No smell will get through the door....but... you have to seal the room a bit. what I did is line the floor, walls, cieling with black&white poly, use a stapler and go to town, or else the pressure will suck your poly right off the walls. Also add a sheet to your door entrance but over lap it by about 3-4 inches so it seals the light and air. My door to my room is a mess lol it's coated with about 3 pieces i've added but it works haha, good luck.

You can't grow in summer without A/C. You'll cook your plants. Venting is one of the most if not the most difficult part of setting up. You could pipe in air from your attic going to a fresh air source outside. You need to have the air depositing somewher down low so it can mix and feed your plants Co2, I recommend 2 or more oscillating fan mixing and stirring all that air. I just added another one and it alone brought my temps down by 2 or 3 degrees.

and BTW yes it should be that hard, stressful and cash draining. It's called growing. Not easy when your new. I just bout went nutz setting up my first grow, way over my head. But I manned up and got it done, PROPERLY. It was an ASSLOAD of work, and cost alot, have fun.

I have two Pits that roam the back yard. I am only running my lights at night so the temps usually drop to around 70 degrees in the summer was planning on gettng a portable a/c unit for the room just in case. I've talked to a few people and they say the way I was thinking of setting it up would work fine.
