Room smells, buds don’t

So I’ve been drying a couple plants I harvested roughly 1-1.5 weeks ago and the room smells like dank but the buds don’t really smell like anything. I generally keep the room at about 75 F just like the rest of the house. The buds maybe have a mild hay smell, mild weed smell but the room smells more. How should this influence my thinking in terms of when to start curing?

Most start curing when the stems snap, not bend, and the buds are dry/crunchy to the touch. But your temps seems a little high. Should try to keep it under 70, Rh around 50%. The point is to dry as slow as you can. Usually the hay/grass smell is a sign of chopping too early. Curing will help a little to bring the smell and taste out, but chopping too early is kind of hard to fix.

Yeah, the trichomes were about 20-30 percent amber so I figured it was ready but I guess not maybe. As for the temperature, I may go a little lower but I can’t afford to keep it below 70 F even though I live in a double wide. I will just deal with whatever comes out. Any thoughts why the room would smell more than the plants?
