I looked to see if there’s already a thread and couldn’t find one. I just ordered a pack of the Romulan “BX” (apparently actually a cross of the original Romulan cut and a Romulan f4 male) with “berning cap” (runtz/MAC1 x Romulan) freebies on sale.

I’ve always been a huge Trek fan and used to get a lot of old school Federation buds when I was younger. The original Romulan and Mikado were Federation’s two strains that I have extremely fond memories of, and I’ve been wanting to grow my own Romulan for a long time.

So the plants I’ve seen pics of look really nice and the dude that runs RG is obviously an excellent photographer, but I’m wondering if anyone here has grown out the Romulan “BX” and what to expect. There does seem to be a fair amount of hype around this new Romulan gear on IG. I’m going to pop the beans pretty soon and will use this thread to post my own experiences with their gear.

I think the last time I smoked real Romulan from Federation stock was my senior year of high school so 2004. The pics I’ve seen of this look pretty legit, and the breeder seems to be a nice guy. I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to my good friend @Pack Banditz Seed Bank — he’s got this gear on sale for the rest of the month. I’m thinking of getting my beans wet as soon as they arrive.

Here is the cut that a group of Norcal old timers grew and called Romulan from the 90s-00s. I have my doubts about it now but its what they called it. These were very knowledgeable people in the scene. The other strains they had like SSH, jack herer, trainwreck, blue dream, sour diesel, etc were the real deal. I still compare all weed to this rom. It was nothing like described in most recent rom descriptions tho. This was a smooth earthy inhale with a touch of gas and landed a very subtle sweet berry or grape flavor on the exhale. Sticky as hell and very potent. Joints of this were a delight.

Not sure it’s the original Romulan or not, but I’m a sucker for pink pistils. Beautiful plant.

Love the pink pistils! A local friend of mine has a cut of papaya x gushers from Rado that throws pink pistils like that. I hope I’ll find something like that eventually but I’m going to get that cut from him eventually.

Love those 8 week finishers too! I’ve got a pink runtz x grape gasoline that finishes in 8 weeks that’s super fire and a massive yield with scrog. Hope to find more 8 week finishers! That one looks awesome!

So I had no idea that this thread would generate so much interest, and now I kinda feel a duty to the community to pop these right away. I was thinking about what to pop next but hadn’t come to any firm decisions. I think this Romulan BX is getting wet as soon as it lands!

Nice, I'll be sure to keep an eye on this thread. I almost bought a pack of AKBB's Romulan the other day but went with Deathstar at the last minute, too many old school strains and too little time/space. Nice babies!

Well I wish I had more interesting pics to post but all good things take time. One of my friends on IG is also growing some, but his aren’t any further along than mine. Got all 12 potted and hardened off from the dome. All look healthy. No apparent mutants and hopefully no more than 2 runts. I'm subbed. I've been real curious about these. I grew out the AKBB Romulan BX4 and they all finished nicely, quick and frosty, but didn't really remind me of the Romulan I used to get. Funny enough, one pheno AKs 80s Skunk Rom was actually closer. I may have to give these a try next.
