Rock Wool in Expanded Clay

Hey guys,
I'm brand new to this, when moving the rock wool to the expanded clay in net pots, is it necessary to remove the plastic lining on the width of the cubes? Or will the root mass develop well with it intact.

Yeah, remove the plastic lining, and make sure you wash your expanded clay pellets thoroughly. I mean, wash them REALLY well...I put mine in a bowl, swished it around, and drained the water...Did this about 30 times before I was satisfied.

Haha, water keeps coming out red...plus it's a small bowl...lol...I don't know if I really rinse 30 times, I don't count, so I MIGHT have exaggerated a tad bit, but rinse till the water comes off clear...
 
Dude, use a larger container.
I get a tub like a rubber maid tote, dump the hydroton in, turn the hose on it and dump it out.

Dude, I don't have problems with the way I clean my hydroton...lol...it works just fine for me. I appreciate the advice, but I'm usually not filling more than eight 3.75" netpots at a time anyway.
 
I threw mine in the Bathtub with the jets on high for 5 Mins.. worked wonders. Thanks for the Reply guys !

lol try that with a whole bag and your have a fucking mess. shit will be like mud on the bottom of your tub plus its bad for the pee trap just saying incase u ever wanna try to wash alot dont make the mistake i did
