Sorry to randomly come out of nowhere with this but I'm sure a lot more then 2% of people will pull a gun on someone
self defense or aggressor If they plan to do it
I kind of agree with the fact you said more people who pull a gun won't as often use it but it is definitely a lot more then 1%
The reason behind this is when a gun is pulled out and is not used its because guns get the point across unless the person is stupid or careless most people in that situation realize "hey I better run or stop doing what I'm doing or I'm going to be shot or dead"
Then you have a small percentage of people who are scared to pull the trigger that attributes to that

funny u say that the part i did not add in is a trick i learned
yell do it ..do it come kill me shoot me ......this shocks the person for a few secs at best gives u time to close range or to move your ass out of line of fire (plus any witness around spread the fact u did it spreading the rumor u are fucking crazy don't fuck with u)

it takes a mind set to actually kill a person with in secs of seeing them most ppl do not naturally have this .....it is one of the reasons military train so hard so it is just a reflex to pull the trigger with out thinking increase the chances of that person living tho the combat

most ppl that pull a gun on other feel weak so they need something to give them strength a gun a knife a bat but for them actually use it in a way death or great injury will happen .....it not in them unless they are under certain stress to trigger the reaction .........the wild card are ppl like me with differently wired brains and the completely pathological that do not see life for anything

Just so you know I'm a psychopath, 5% of the population are, that's one in 20, and trust me if I pull a gun on you I have already weighed the consequences of killing you and could not care less if you live or die. You would have to do some clever thinking in a matter of seconds to talk me out of it even then I think I would be so driven that there's no chance for you. That's why if you kill somebody in "the heat of passion" in Canada you get off with 18 months, cause really it wasn't your fault. Look it up its right in the criminal code of Canada.

Yelling might work for someone who has never really used firearms beforehand having none or barely any experience hunting ,going to the range practicing using a gun in self defense etc and is more nervous then the usual armed person
It would create more tension in the situation that might help to your avail(maybe buy you a few seconds to run or possibly change someones mind) but if a person who was given the same advice as me by my father pulls a gun yelling is not going to do much if anything
The reason why?
I was taught you never pull a gun on someone unless you are going to or willing to use it!
A gun is not something just to brandish to get you're way in a situation that is how you get yourself shot by someone who is familiar with firearms whether they are the good or bad guy
Any one who pulls out a gun for any reason dumb or not who doesn't have the intention of using it just made them self a target
while the person who has experience reacts to what they have learned pull their gun out and shoot that person in a matter of seconds
So in my mind and I'm sure in many others If I pull out my gun (other person armed with a gun/weapon or not) by now I've already made the decision that I most likely will have to shoot and seriously injure or kill that person
Pulling the trigger would only be instinct in the next step after I find my target and what lies beyond it
Not trying to sound like a hard ass or anything just explaining my reasoning behind what I say
I collect surplus military weapons and enjoy guns as a hobby but there is many MANY more crazier gun nuts then me I'm a tad bit more knowledgeable then the average firearm user but I'm no Mr. know it all when it comes to firearms I know enough to get me by

being a paranoid over protective bastard that i am plans with in plans because i expect u to dick me so looking for the trap ..

but after living in a mental ward for as long as i did....... not worried one bit ......as i am the amisher fucker (can not explain it ppl like me i think it has to do with the fact i blunt honest and entertain with ideas never thought before) alot of the times just a social experiment for me

sir i hate to do this but that is the old school teachings when parents could/would be parents teaching the kids something .....u are now in the age of the video game and movies combined with parents busting ass at 2 jobs for 40 plus hours a week just to pay for them self the house the 2 kids and one with medical issues or in sports .......it is the said truth but they leave the raising of the kid to something else

I'm not speaking for my generation as a whole I'm speaking for my generation of firearm users who were more then likely taught the same thing I was In any situation that has to do with life and death or a gun
The same old school teachings for firearms are still enforced and practiced
