RO question

  • Hello everyone. I just bought a countertop RO unit. I tested the ppm and it came out to 7. I am cool with that. My ph was 7.3. My question is my regular tap water is well water. My ppm is normally 60-70 max. The ph is normally 6.4-6.5ish. Do I bother to lower my RO waters ph? If I do lower it, won't that increase my ppm? This is my first RO unit. I am growing 100% organic. I'm curious to know why you put in a RO unit since your well water has only 60 - 70ppm of total dissolved solids? That my friend sounds to me like you have good quality well water.

I have no explanation other than I am insane. I am growing the True Living Organic style and the Rev calls for "pure" water.

I didn't want to be the first to ask. I would kill to have your water bro. I don't know why you'd mess it up putting it through the ro filter. I think you'll take out a lot of natural goodness that's suppose to be there. When you use a ro, you strip it to bare element almost, and leave it stark. If you already have great "pure" water like you have from your well, I think you'd be better off leaving it alone. not trying to be harsh, I'd just hate to see you mess your girls up any is all. I know you won't really, but I'd rather have that 60-70 ppm well water personally. Peace out.

I am sending my well water out to be tested next week. I am waiting on the kit. I have a feeling that my ppm meter is lying to me. You know me Myco. I am nuts. I just want to try and be as perfect as I can be. The Rev does call for no tap, well, or city water at all. I just want to follow his plan I guess. I am all over the place sometimes. :wall:

Hey man in the end it's all about getting it right for the girls. If you have a hunch, I'm sure it's not nothing, and should be looked into further, and if the rev says no well water, it's hard to argue with his results. You know what you're doing, I'm a spectator here man as I don't know what you know. Glad to see you're working out your problem so thoroughly. I prefer the General Organics Cal/mag as well. It seems to work fast, and also has a higher percentage of Calcium, and Magnesium than alot of other brands. Peace out.

I read where the Rev really likes Roots Organics Extreme Serene. NPK of 0-2-2. Uses very sparingly during flowering if the plants seem like they need a boost. Super fast absorbing. Drops the ph pretty good too. The Rev also uses FF Big Bloom, Organic Gem 3-3-0.3 Fish fertilizer. That is all he uses and like I said very sparingly. Take it easy.

I've always like fox Farm Big Bloom, but it's the only F.F. product I really use any more except for their soils. I was going to use alot of their dry ferts to ammend my soil, but just went a different way is all. I would use their dry ferts in the future though, especially if in a tight space and just wanted to make a cheap batch of amended organic soil. I always thought they would make for a cheap short cut of sorts. I like R.O. products as well, I really like their H-P-K it kicks butt! Peace out.

I purchased a 3 way stealth ro system 2 yrs ago and have had great results,quality bottle water at its finest..peace.
