RIU Community Based On The Freedom Of Speech?

Who on RIU has the power to just delete an entire thread? Not lock or end, but delete like it never existed. Can any RIU staff member do this? I notice sometimes they will disappear for no reason even while its active and people are posting. Could a RIU staff member delete it just because they personally don't like the subject or don't like some of the people who are posting in that particular thread? I am talking about a thread that is completely appropriate without any problems and actually contains interesting information that could be beneficial to many people. For example, why even have a political section if people are going to be censored simply because they lean toward a certain party or have opinions that a mod or forum admin does not support.

We've had lots of threads deleted because the thread wasn't liked by mods or the thread didn't fit into what they "think" or believe.

Look at buddy. He gets into a penis and virgina arguement with his bitch and because the other guy happens to be black this is a reason to strip him of all he's worth. They say it's rasism. I say it's a manufactured legal reason to rob him of what he has.

allmods have powers to DELETE a thread.
Technically when signing up for riu you give us the right to do so.
However if this thread was completely appropriate, than it may either have been
1. a mistake
2. There were so many deleted posts by mods which users cannot see and often think threads shouldnt have been deleted but overall there were so many posts that had to be delete that it was best to delete the thread.

Its usually one of those two I find.

Alot of the times people think hey that thread shoudlve stayed but if your the mods consistently deleting posts out of it, and it gets to a high number we end up locking the thread, or deleting it

So if you wanna tell me the thread, i can find it, and see what happend for you

we have some pretty awesome people who mods the political section
We do find them to be not ever biased due to a party or political reasoning.
they follow their mod guidelines pretty well
But ultimately, its always going to seem like mods picks and choose what they want to delete, close, ect.

...and for that reason RIU. cannot have any future per se. so long as a Mod. or any member who has control over another member, and censors without hindrance or consideration, then RIU. will always be spinning its wheels with new or newbie growers, discussing the same old issues.

3: Why are the roots sticking out of my pot?
4: Why do I think music is great once I smoke a joint?
5: Should I tell my Mom that I'm a drug addict?

In order for a site to grow it needs as many replies to these obvious and repetitious questions as possible, from as many directions as possible, to cut or censor because the reply was considered unacceptable today, is just dumb, and will eventually flow thru to the membership stats, then any forthcoming sponsors, then the bank balance, by then its too late, the site has gone the way of many many site before it.
IMHO, the only way a site can grow from feeding these newbies threads is by offering patient modulation, but that said too, any offensive posts should be removed, but how exactly do you define offensive,....rather you than me to decide that Sunni?

admin has guidelines we follow to figure out what is offensive.
so its not based or randomly chosen

no ones ever deleted a newbie post because of a question like those they only delete if users go out of hand with it in their responses.
no ones ever deleted a thread like those you stated because they are "acceptable today" or "dumb" questions.....

Well i would tend to agree, but if you look at the locked thread in this section titled "Goodbye Threads", the forum administrator states that the RIU community here is based on the freedom of speech. He also states that if there is material here that people don't agree with or find offensive, they can just basically either leave or don't look at it. I understand totally what Sunni is saying, but if RIU is going to allow someone like Uncle Buck (a great example) to post, say or do anything without deleting anything , then wtf? Probably the biggest troll i have met on the internet EVER, and the guy is untouchable? But everyone else gets censored? Why is that?

but we literally do...like 90% of his posts end up deleted
politics does indeed move fast though and sometimes we miss some, just hit the report post button!

That's messed up. If babysitting Buck is beyond a full time job, i call that a problem. No mod should have to deal with that. I wonder why RIU continuously puts up with it? I cant imagine how many members have left because of it. That's a shame.

this is just my opinion and not a mod based one
but there are about 10-15 other members that contribute to the issue , they get their free speech and quite frankly im sick of reading their OBVIOUS racist comments.

So honestly IMHO buck yes while annoying to have to delete his posts, hes no where near annoying enough as those 10-15 racists people whos posts i have to delete just as much because they do the same buck does,

I have started at least six threads in the last week that have disappeared overnight. Mostly videos. Some are still there (mostly music) but the political ones keep getting deleted. I just figured maybe they were just working out some kinks with the new site. Which brought me here. I started thinking a mod or someone was just deleting them because of a difference in opinion. Then maybe there is a problem because i am aware that all of all the videos you have listed here are still posted. I could give you a list of videos that i have posted that are no longer here? It will take me a little while though, if you really want to keep going with this? But would it even matter if there is no trace of me posting them? Since i have your attention, one more question. How many accounts or "puppet accounts" can a person open here?
