hey guys in week 1 or 2 of vegi state i noticed a split stem.. its now week 4 or 5 i belive and the split has spread to my very first node (disformed leaf set)aka sprout.
Now it is week5-6 and the split has grown to the second node!. is my stem getting thicker? it killed the disformed leaves aka the first sprout.

Here are some pictures!

The ripping the base of the plant seems to be due to the stem thickening. It's normal and wouldn't worry. A fan blowing on one plant more than on others can lead to this plant tearing faster as the swaying speeds the process!

Im having a hard time seeing the split in the pics. I believe your plant will be fine though. Maybe stunted but it will heal itself. I was lsting my plants and wasnt paying attention and almost topped the plant cause I ripped the whole top off it was hanging by skin. I put it back together took a twig and some zip ties made a splint and the plant healed itself. It took about 10 days to before I could take the splint off and a knot formed where this happened but all is good. It did stunt but I guess it didnt over stress the plant because she turned out to be female. Anyhow good luck and if you have too you can always splint the split.

I nearly destroyed a plant once during a reflector lens cleaning disaster (I never made that mistake again). It ripped 3 branches off immediately and nearly crushed the entire plant. It didn't seem to have much effect (other than a couple of missing branches) because it yielded the sam amount as the other undamaged plants in that crop. Good luck and don't worry about it if plants get a little damage...they are much tougher than people realize.
