I know right? Excellent cover-up on their part...

Back in the late 90's the movie Patch Adams was made a great deal of the movie was filmed in Chapel Hill . Myself and 2 friends had jobs as extras on that movie I was in 2 scenes one with Robin and one without the scene with him was an all day thing......he seemed like a very cool guy spoke to the people in the croud interacted with them even when he could've gone to his trailer he just seemed to be a very nice dude .....its a shame he's gone!

I think he was a very talented actor when he played serious. His "funny" routine was too clowny for my liking. (Except as The Genie! He rocked that role.) I think he tried to break out of the pigeon hole after Jim Carrey did, releasing a series of films that took a more serious tone. Unfortunately they were all strangely depressing and dark and therefore were very hit and miss, with the majority being misses. ("Jack" anybody?)

Trying to follow Jim Carrey's career path and failing at it might depress anyone.

I thought he was great in World's Greatest Dad. And I will always remember him fondly for Mrs. Doubtfire, which allowed for him to flex his wings in both the dramatic and comedic directions.

And jim Carrey was auful at comedy too

You have a good point, and I forgot about RW's early work like Good Morning Vietnam, where he was able to work the genuine. I didn't mean he followed JC's career path collectively... I recognize he was around a lot earlier than JC... I suppose RW started out genuine and got put in the pigeon hole later on, which he had trouble getting out of without going dark. Unfortunately RW spent a lot of his career in the pigeon hole that JC more or less successfully broke out of when he transitioned from films like "The Mask" and "Ace Ventura" to more respectable work. I feel like RW tried to do the same and didn't get the same dice roll when it came to script choices--probably because he was really fucking depressed inside all along....

Anyway. I liked Robin Williams, I just felt some of his comedic performance felt too desperate at times. If he did kill himself that would sort of make sense in a way. But I feel bad for focusing on all this when we're supposed to be comemorating him, so I'll shut up now. Peace.
