I don't follow politics that much (what am I doing in here..i know) but I've noticed Obama saying all this "stay in school", "don't quit it", "don't make excuses" stuff. Whats that all about? Is he trying to blame the youth for something?

It's just the typical political pandering that all Presidents feel a need to do.....like kissing babies.

Of course it's easy to talk up the publik skool system when you make sure YOUR kid is in a top PRIVATE school.

About the only thing that impressed with Jimmah Carter, was he sent AMY to a public school. Got to give that one to him.... He at least practiced what he preached......Obama is a fraud in that area.

anyway, what sort of epic mental gymnastics does it take to blame the democratic party for the mortgage crisis? you have yet to state how they even share in the blame, let alone are the sole cause of it. please give evidence on how democrats had the power to allow banks to hand out mortgages to people who can't afford them, and then go on to explain how and why republicans were powerless to stop them.

It started with the Clintoon administration and the idea that everyone has the "right" to home ownership.

Left-wing special interest groups like A.C.O.R.N., started pressuring (shouting racism) major lending institutions into loaning to those who wouldn't otherwise qualify for mortgage loans. Couple this with Alan Greenspan lowering interest rates fourteen times in a row to an artificial level and you have a real estate market that is artifically heated. Hey, if all one has to do to qualify for a loan is to breathe onto a mirror, and if the mirror steams up, that's enough to qualify for a $500,000 loan, even though one is flipping hamburgers at MacDonalds, what is to be expected other than massive amounts of foreclosures when the rates on adjustable rate mortgages go up?

Both Republicans and Democrats in the congress supported this, but especially so Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and Barak Obama.

When the shit finally started to hit the fan, the Bush administration tried to put on the brakes, but Dodd, Frank and Obama refused to comply by pulling in the reigns on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The party continued on.

Once the adjustable rate mortgages, with their "teaser rates" adjusted to a higher rate, the mortgage payments couldn't be met and the foreclosure debacle began.

Again, this is a problem caused by government bureaucrats and politicians, mainly Democrats, in tune with special interests. And they are the exact ones who are now blaming the free market for the failure of the housing market when the truth is, government's hands were all over it.

Bush went to Congress on NUMEROUS occasions and told them that Fred&fannie needed a complete overhaul. Every time the response was ... HUH??? everything is fine. Everything was NOT fine. These are the same ppl in charge right now, selling the same kool aid. keep ur nickel in ur pocket if u know what's good for you.

And you know what, CJ? Americans ARE keeping their nickles in their pockets. I heard on the news last night that the credit card companies are down about 22% in business because Americans are finally living within their means for a change. Hey, no more treating the equity in your home like an ATM machine either.

Now, if we can only abolish the tax on income and replace it with a consumption tax, things will boom again. But, not to likely with the statists in control. I can hardly wait for 2010.

We all know the economic collapse CANNOT be traced to ONE cause. It's logical fallacy. Simple cause. Look it up.

Wow some peoples version of recent history is amazing, no mention of the truth. Start with the word deregulation and work backwards to who's to blame for it all. Same people to blame for why your electricity in california is 5x or more anywhere else and even though enron's already admitted guilt and to commiting outright blatant fraud and falsely making up shortages and rolling blackouts that never needed to happen at all and you are still paying and will continue to pay for it.

The housing industry needed to keep pushing the numbers on home sales, keep up the perception of profit as long as possible and with numbers as high as possible. They pushed and pushed for deregulation and were helped along by the same folks who always represent big business rather than the best interests of the country long term. People did get themselves into homes they couldn't afford but that is why people can't approve their own loans. People saw this coming. Those that warned us were silenced and if they didn't go along with being silenced they were fired and had their reputations smeared so nobody would listen. It was claimed then that they were just disgruntled ex employees with a grudge...

Business ethics simply aren't enough, there really is no such thing even as business ethics. You would think common sense wise that no business would do things that would jeopardize their survival long term or completely ruin their public image to where they can no longer even operate but obviously that's wrong and still to this day there are those calling for even more deregulation because they want government as small as possible. As small as possible is a great idea, government has gotten way out of control in many ways but there still must be control in many ways just to save us from business with no ethics or from short term profit at the expense of long term good.

The health industry has failed us outright blatantly failed and millions of people have testified to this that even if you have insurance and are perfect about reporting everything you can still be fucked and will still be fucked at every turn out of what you're entitled to coverage wise but so many people still refuse to listen. Those of us that fight with insurance companies every day and loose are trying to warn you, nobody's safe. Listen for a change... Do not believe the lies such as that Ronald Reagan rant on socialism. Doesn't it sound exactly like "reefer madness" scare tactics? It should, watch his other video where he tells us about the evils of marijuana and how he now has PROOF that shows FOR SURE how marijuana is the worst most evil thing on the planet.

Just watch them and compare... It's obviously acting in both, he was an actor first and foremost after all and never had your best interests at heart any more than Nixon. Listen to nixon's take on Kaiser health services and how he gives his ok after finding out it's all based on "giving less care" and "the incentives all run the right way".

It's all very old lies and been proven very very wrong long term. Until we start to see things as they really are rather than fitting history to what we'd like it to be this shit will continue.
