Right or Left?

Lol just chillin and i wanna know, think of an everyday task that involves turning something. What is it and which way do you turn it?

A door knob, and usualy right :P
 
If I ever have to guess a direction tog o or to turn something I turn it right. Statistically you're better off getting it right if you guess the same thing over and over and most things turn right anyway.
 
I have always had the hardest time understanding "to the right" or "to the left". Something that pivots about an axis or center doesn't actually go either right or left ... there is always an equal&opposite angular mass going the other way. The only way I can make it work for myself is to introduce a wholly arbitrary but non-negotiable restriction: the right or left is referent to the upper portion of the article being turned. It strikes me as ... prejudiced somehow, "toppist". I have memorized "right means clockwise" and now I am good to go.

Am i really going to have to be the one that points out that "right" or "left" means either way in this regard. Hence the existence of clockwise and counter clockwise. Good work stoners :D Unlike yourself CannaB, i don't let myself understand it as left or right, i shan't perpetuate the nononsense :D
