rice hulls: rice germination and GNATS

hello! the other day, for the first time I bought rice hulls and mixed them with vermiculite and light mix in a pot. the seedling is doing ok, but I have observed many gnats flying over the pot, "walking" on the substrate and so on. what should I do? should I transplant the young seedling to a substrate without hulls and throw the rice out? i'm kind of freakin' out.

I also noticed that hulls are germinating, developing roots and growing around the seedling, which I am not too excited about either ... but I was excited about the goodness of rice hulls. what should I do?

Rice hulls shouldn't germinate as they should just be the outer shell of the seed.

Gnats can be a pain, I use mosquito dunks crushed up along with good air movement to help with those. Will fall back on spinosad if the dunks don't do it.

thanks for your help! I irrigated a product from my country that contains some kind of lethal fungus, and I sprayed the seedling with neem. hopefully it will work...
