I just harvest my RS Sour Diesel and wanted to share my experience. I only tried 2 seeds at first. First to show sex was hermied pretty bad so it was tossed right away. My second however, is excellent. This is one I will keep around for a long time.
It is very nute sensitive first off. You really have to be careful as I do not even feed my plants to the max like alot of growers do and still had some burn issues at first but it did not impact yield or quality. I flowered for around 75 which is in line for the ECSD if you run her the whole way. This plant stretches just like the clone as well.. Not for the small cabinet grower lol. One thing that was different about this seed form than the clone is the smell onset. The original gets very stinky very early. This one took about 4 weeks to get to smellin. At first I was worried it was going to be hempy... Glad I waited! Resin production again took longer, at about week 6 for nice gland formation. The bud structure is what you would expect from the clone only, long crowning foxtail structures of medium density. At week 7, it is the only plant you smell in a garden with cannalope haze, old time moonshine, sweet tooth, and NLxBB. Crazy stinky even with filtration. Flushed for two weeks with the first being sugar daddy and the last straight water. Buds really don't fill in till the last 7-10 days for this strain. In the words of Soma, "when u think it is done... wait a week." It looks very stringy until this last part of flowering so early harvest will murder your yield. After hanging for 6 days and 10 days into the jars it is already amazing.
For a plant I vegged for 4 weeks and topped once, I yielded around 2 3/4 ounces. Not bad for this strain at all. You can do really well with SCROG with this strain. Growing the plant straight out and with a 400 watt, this is a decent yield for sour diesel. And NOT one male part on her! That is great news for a Sour Diesel fem seed!
The buds are bright lime green with hints of pink and silver from the resin. Great bag appeal. The smell is just what it should be, lemony, fuelly, with a slight hint of sandalwood undertones. And already strong with a week cure!
Breaks up nicely and grinding it up just makes the smells explode! Just wonderfull. The taste is all there too. At first a delicious lemon burst with a hint of diesel fuel funk. Then the exhale, the best part. Extremely sour! Just coats your mouth in that wonderful kersene sour candy funk that is so delicious.
Potency is great. Again, this is really dependent on you taking the strain the full term. Otherwise you get great flavor and only 15 minutes of high. This is a really heady strain. Hits you within the second or third hit and the initial rush comes on. It is not a super long lasting high, but it is not super short either. Probably 60-90 minutes duration.
Overall I give this a 10 if you are a sour disel fan, which I obviously am. It is the best I have had in seed form out of a few that I tried. Although they don't grow exactly the same as the clone, the smoke is authentic. This is def the real deal and not a cross. I would imagine an S1 so u may find a little variation. I got a keeper out of two seeds so that's pretty sweet. It grows much better than their Headband which I didn't care for too much at all. I just had nothin but mediocre results with that one. If you are looking for a True Sour Diesel, you can pick theirs up. Its official.
