Does a reptile light produce the right amount and kind of light to use?

No, a reptile light will not work stand alone for growing. Some people think that the extra UVB spectrum creates more THC some say it makes no difference. The reason plants create THC is thought to be because they are protecting from UVB rays. I am sure there are varying opinions.

If you are going to use a reptile light it should only be used as a supplement to regular lighting CFL, Fouro, HPS, LED etc...

Very true your plant won't grow much with just a UVB light.
A UVB light will give you more Trichromes, THC is made in the head of the Trichromes, The more Trichromes the more THC. That's the line of thinking about the UVB lights.
You have to keep the light really close to the plant, and it takes a while.
If you want Trichromes, Use a supplement like 'Snow Storm" or "BloomBastic" there are others out there.
