Replacing Biden...

transcript from CNBC’s The Kudlow Report:

KLEIN: Larry, just before we went on the air tonight, I checked with my sources in the Clinton camp and I took notes because I want to be careful. And here is what they told me: Up until just a couple of weeks ago, the White House was putting out feelers to see if Hillary would accept the vice-presidential nod and replace Joe Biden. Bill Clinton was, I’m told, urging his wife to accept the number-two slot. He saw this as a great launching pad for her for running in 2016. But, then, Hillary had lunch in the White House a couple of weeks ago with Valerie Jarrett, Michelle’s best friend, senior adviser to both the first lady and the president. And she told Valerie Jarrett that she would not accept the vice-president spot. The lunch was ostensibly about other matters, but it came up. The vice-presidential thing came up. Hillary felt burned out after four years as secretary of state. But I’m told there were more important reasons for her not accepting.

KUDLOW: Such as?

KLEIN: Number one, she felt that if she were on the ticket with Obama and he lost, she would be tarred as a loser when she tried to run in 2016. On the other hand, if she was on the ticket and he won, and he continued his far, left-wing socialistic policies, she would have to defend those policies when she ran in 2016.

KUDLOW: It’s already tough enough for her to defend some of the foreign policies that he has been putting forward.

KLEIN: Exactly.

KUDLOW: So let me just get that. You’re saying, two weeks ago, that White House staff put out feelers to Hillary about going on the ticket as vice president.

KLEIN: That’s right.

KULDOW: And Hillary then didn’t make a decision immediately? She-

KLEIN: She knew that she was having lunch with Valerie Jarrett.

KUDLOW: But not with President Obama?

KLEIN: The president has never spoken to Hillary about this. Because he is afraid that if he makes such a offer, and she turns it down, Bill will leak the story.

KUDLOW: Bill will leak the story.

KLEIN: He doesn’t trust Bill Clinton.

KUDLOW: Well, he shouldn’t. Bill Clinton disagrees about three quarters of the time.

Sure they do, Dan Quayle and Sarah Palin are two names that spring to mind.

Sticky, that was awesome!

Biden scares me less than Palin did, but more than Quayle. Quayle had trouble with spelling vegetables but his gaffs aren't even in the same area code as Biden's. Palin was just plain scary.

I wouldn't be surprised if a debilitating health issue arises for Biden in about a month or so.

you sure? Quayle was the guy if you will recall that thought Murphy Brown was a real person. I recall his most horrible gaffe, he was claiming that there were rumors about some behavior of his I don't recall which unfortunately but he called a press conference to address these "so called rumors" - indicating of course that the rumors weren't rumors at all but fact.

You may be right, he wasn't under the microscope like they are today so some of his may have slipped by. Your admitted bias makes me skeptical because you'll give Uncle Joe a pass on things you would never have given to Quayle.

Seriously though, it's like arguing over who is the smartest kid at the special olympics. We always hear the cream rises to the top, but they forget to mention that shit floats.

You just can't keep that liberal part of you in the closet, can you? LOL

Consider me a Tea Party advocate.... but in reverse. I am not my political beliefs, if you manage to insult those beliefs or prove them wrong I will acknowlege and complement you as well but I am not personaly offended.

In this instance "liberal" maps with "correct". If Sarah, Dan and a fence post played Jeopardy, my money would be on the "pillar" of its community. cn

Correct? you don't mean that do you? liberal merely tends more often to correlate to "in accordance with reality". The most power and respect to citizens the least to governments and corporations.

I may need an education here on the distinction between "correct" and the expression in quotemarks. cn

Buck! sometimes you remind me of when I used to go on half day fishing trips. there was always a guy that had to roam around the boat with his hook in the water, he tended to tangle with everyone elses line at least once per trip, he seemed always to be a nice guy who was perpetually sorry that he had caused us any trouble.

Welcome aboard my friend.

Welcome aboard my friend.
I will wager, however, that he was a master at threading slippery bits onto the hooks. cn
