Just say you can pay first last and since you don't have any references you'll pay second months rent upfront as well... He won't ask anymore questions(if you got the money)
worked for me anyways
I was under the impression that no reference means they wont rent unless you pay off the year ..

i have found placing a stack of money in someones hand does not raise doubts but in fact quelches them. I'll pay for 6 months in advance, and I never had a landlord ask any more questions after i dropped a couple of g's in cash in their hands, they just pull out the paper work and give me the keys.. money is comforting for people..

I say i'm self employed. What that self-employment entails is none of their business :) Not sure how tenancies work abroad, but in the UK, you pay a security deposit and sign a contract, if you breach the contract by say failing to pay rent, they have grounds to keep that security deposit whih is typically a months rent. They don't really care what your owrk is as they know that if you fail to pay rent for a month, then they have your deposit which overs the rent and can then legally evict you to go and find someone else. :)

You mean to say that sumbuddy wants to rent a house but don't got no job but has the cash necessary to pay the rent, right?

And you are asking for a believable suggestion about what lie to tell a reasonably intelligent landlord to give the landlord some peace of mind that the rent is going to get paid, right?

Tell them you are an artist. Go to a second hand store and buy a shitload of cheapo impressionist art - pottery, jewelry, photos of Lady gaga .. whatever - attach price tags to each piece ($900 - $2300) and then show the landlord "your work" and tell the landlord that you "usually sell about one piece per week". Haave a telephone number for an accomplice ("an art gallery") ready to give the landlord as a reference.

Need more ideas for plausible lies???? Just let me know - I got tons of 'em

I would think that the best thing to say is that you work for someone in your family (parents, uncle, cousin, etc.) and that you get paid cash?

just take a wad of money and shove it in the landlords mouth... then snatch the keys, storm out the door with a deuce in the air
