ive seen people snip-off all the lower, smaller branches on theyr plants before flower to create more airflow or to concentrate more power to the tops , if anyone does this could you tell me when you do it?

Oooh boy, here we go. Got some boxing gloves ready? LOL

I do trim off my lower branches just before I go into flowering. I do it to reduce the amount of popcorn nugs and it makes it much easier to water. Everytime I do this, I always end up saying I didnt take enough off.

i will try to remember my camera next time i venture out there! but some of them are bushy as hell,,, some not so much,,

if i take off my lower branches on some of my plants, i know ill be losing a big part of my yield, some of my branches are 2 feet long!

idk if you will lose that much! say you have 20 branches on your plant and you take off 10 ,, the remaining 10 should be 2x powered by a high root/shoot ratio?? this is only my judgement, and might not be right,

One big thing to remember is if you're going to do any pruning make sure you make cuts an inch or so from the stalk and don't just rip it off.

It's easy to hurt the plant tearing even very small branches off. You also run the risk, if you tear it off flush with the stem, of the wound getting a disease or something...weakening your whole plant or, god forbid, causing it to snap at the base.

Not very likely, but worth mentioning. Remember your scissors!

thanks man!! i was ready to figer rip those branches!! lol im dumb like that sometimes!

i don't bother to cut lower branches when growing outdoors. I would like to think it depends on strain, but all of my girls have lower branches that are huge, and might give me at least an ounce per branch. guess you just have to go with your instinct.

so i wont lose yield if i get rid of these things? yeah right, these things are gonna produce some nugs. and not no little tiny popcorn nuggets

I did it in the first week of flower, and it was a good opportunity to take cuttings.

Take a look/see

I lollipopped my 6-week-olds, and I thinned my LSTed 3+ month old plants SCROG style.
