Removing fan leaves during flowering

This is a fiercely contested point. I'm no pro, so I take the advice of a knowledgeable farmer and fellow smoker who says that the flowers on most plants are not as photosensitive as leaves. Our flowers have layered leaves in them, so there is some benefit to lighting them. But do not remove fan leaves, even dried up ugly ones. Wait until they fall off. Push them down and away, but if they don't come off with a light tug, leave 'em be.

exactly! it's not really the rocket science some make it out to be.
 
A guy I trim for removes nearly all fan leaves for his indica for a 5-7 days before harvest and does nothing to the sativas.

You just posted a study which backs up exactly what I was saying about leaves shading out lower leaves as their output is reduced, which side are you on exactly? lol

I'm not asking you to post studies to back me up, you're just doing that on your own! I have asked you to post studies or reputable data to prove that this technique doesn't work on cannabis plants. You don't seem to be able to do that either, so it would appear that these experiments have never actually been done before.

So I asked you for any other evidence that this technique doesn't work from anywhere on the internet, you couldn't provide that either.

Then your argument changed to it does work but you'll need extra veg time!! So if it does work as a technique why aren't we allowed to discuss it, and give advice to people that ask about it?

Now we are back to it doesn't work again!!

I would contend that budsites do not need to be uncovered as their primary function is not photosynthesis.

That is what all of the fan leaves do...they provide the energy necessary to maximize the buds genetic potential.

I base this opinion on over four decades of experience growing the sacred herb.

So are you saying that scrogging would work better if you grew the leaves through the screen, and kept the budsites below the screen away from the lights under a canopy of leaves?

Unless you have a problem with ventilation or proper healthy air-flow...give it a try.
Make sure you humidity level is nice and low.
You may be surprised.

ETA: I do not scrog but if I tried it, I would be certain to keep all leaves attached to plant regardless of canopy height relative to those leaves and branches below the canopy shade.
Sometimes I remove a couple of the lowermost branches totally, only in order to facilitate watering the containers.
