Reflector question, matt white better than aluminum?

I was reading/watching videos about reflectors. Now this is my first grow and I am a perfectionist so I want everything to be as possible with what I have. I got a shop light for my Mh and HPS bulbs. The reflector is aluminum and I'm worried about what I've been hearing about stuff like that creating hot spots.

My question is would it be beneficial to me to spray paint the reflector a matt white to avoid hot spots? I'm just worried about the creases in it.

If the creases are symetrical the heat will distribute evenly.

If you want the best get an air cooled hood. (or water \ oil cooled hood if you really have some extra money and a pool to heat)

Aluminum isn't what reflects the lights, its how its polished. A well polished aluminum reflects much better than flat white paint.
Plus, the heat will flake out the spray paint pretty quickly.

yeah if i painted it i would use high heat. I'm trying to devise a way how i could air cool the hood right now. So since its symmetrical I won't worry about painting it. much thanks McFonz

point a fan at the hood and that will help some

Aluminum is not good reflection material. It can create hot spots, and it doesn't do well with heat. A cheap alternative is getting A.) an emergency blanket. B.) Windshield protector.

Both products can be found at your local target type store.

For cooling I'll go with the obvious - drill the top of the hood to fit a venting tubing and get a vent sucking out the hot air.

The main problem with the reflector you've posted is that the light stands horizontically, which is far from optimal.
