Red supplemental lighting

I watched a video comparing some lights and it showed my Viparspectra to be rather limited in the red output, but the mars brand to have quite a bit more red light spectrum. Thinking of adding some mars 300s for supplemental lighting during flowering, but wondering if anyone has any better ideas to add red lighting in a cheap way.

Maybe these?

I'd love to invest in all new higher quality led lights that are out now, but I'm limited in funds at the moment.

Please don't waste your money on those bulbs.......your main light source isn't that great either, save a couple of bucks and get a 315w cmh on the cheap, will blow away your vipar......

Or save some more $$ and look into DIY strips, cobs, boards.

Good luck

I'm worried about temps with a CMH as its a 3.5 x 3.5 mostly enclosed space with cinder blocks on three sides, plastic sheeting on all three sides and the doorway. It's an old well room if you know those. I have it ventilating into the underside of the house. I do already own a 400w digital MH/HPS ballast, with a cool tube I believe. Do you think I'll have head issues?

The light is at another house at the moment otherwise I’d just test it out.

Kinda a 'silk purse out of a sow ear' situation. Either live with what you have or ditch that fixture and get/build something suitable.

Yes, 400w hid will be better than an inefficient blurple........you can generally make headroom work with indicas, training, etc.....

I got the MH setup. Temps are a cool 72 with the cool tube. Those things work amazing. Have my inline fan barely running.

Thanks for the advice and reminding me of what I already own!

CMH has much less infra red than a HPS so you can grow with higher temps, or at least we had no probs at 30C/86F. In fact the plants didnt like it with coldish temps and high RH, wouldnt transpire well. But a cmh 315 might be slightly underpowered for a m2.

Just wanted to clarify. I setup my metal halide light. Not a ceramic metal halide. But I took note of your info anyway.
