does the little red light on the on/off switch in my power brick effect my dark period in 12/12? I read some people put black tape on it, is that really neccassary? Is Anyone here that dosent cover the light through a full crop?

Imo, just do it to be on the safe side. If you do get a hermi then you would have that possible source eliminated.

I definitely tape them with Gorilla tape. It may be superstitious but its a 1 cent preventative measure that I would rather take!

I dont think the light would do anything. Its a tiny little red light. As dannoo said, Mother nature isn't completely dark either with the moon and stars and what not.

my plug has the lil red light, and i've been running it for over 5 years now, plus my door doesn't close nearly all the way, and my shit is so full of light leaks it's so not even funny..
never seen a hermie in my life, knock on wood... people make such a big deal about saying a grow needs to be completely dark, the smallest light leak will cause hermies, blah blah blah blah, and ime, it's so not even close to being true.. like dannon said, nature's not dark, and what better to judge from then nature imo..

precisely..it's not completely dark anywhere unless you're in the deep woods and even then..what about full moon?

100% darkness is just another way of eliminating possibilities. That little red light should not give you concern. I'm more concerned on what you have plugged into them fire hazards? JAS

On my power strip the red light goes off when the lights do. Anyway that small amount of light isn't going to do any harm.

i used to cover all those little red and blue lights on all my stuff a couple years ago. i got lazy and decided to stop. i've never noticed any difference. it should be safe. besides that look at mother nature, do you ever have complete darkness? i know other ppl that have had a lot of small light leaks and didnt have any hermy problems. remember outdoors has all kinds of shit like street lights, moon, and bright stars. i've had some damn good seedless outdoor in my area years ago.

My rule of thumb for lights off.. if you can see without difficulty it's too bright.

Does that little red light enable you to see in your groom? No? It shouldn't be a problem then.. like people say the moon is much brighter and this is what cannabis is use to in the wild.

Yeah that little red light on the power stripe will do nothing. My closet is not 100% light leak free, but turn off all the lights and close the doors and it is dark in there. I have had herms but I have never felt it was from light leaks, more from heat and bad genetics IMC.
I also grew outdoors on my pourch and had light from nieghbors and had no issues with herming and the plants went into flower no problem.

really want your head to explode?..the plant has survived and thrived since the dawn of time WITHOUT nutes:lol:
Hiking with my daughter over the weekend we noticed a huge 15 ft. tree trunk on it's side. It was decaying for several months and breaking down. The rich black soil around the trunk was thriving with new life. Nature's nute bottle at work.

No hermies to report from regular light exposure. I've opened the grow door for 10-15 minutes, turned on a work light, used a flash on the camera 4-5 times a week during my grows without issue. I think it takes a long, consistent light exposure for problems to occur. Small little led indicator is not going to be an issue.
