Red Diesel - end of Week # 7

For those who are also growing this strain - I have a Red Diesel currently late in flowering. She's closing in on the end of week # 7.

I think it's got another couple of weeks before it's ready. I am still waiting for both a few more brown hairs to appear and for her trichomes to begin showing just a wee bit of amber on some of those delicious little bulbous heads. The trikes are still white/milky - but they are getting the visual inspection daily through a 30x magnifying glass.

Her Fox Farm nutrient duo of Grow Big during veg & Tiger Bloom during flower were stopped at the end of week 6.

She is almost 33" tall from soil surface to top of main cola and each of her branches is loaded with some real "sticky icky".

(I am not sure why the image won't flip upright - and I do apologize for that - but you folks get the idea. Probably some setting on my Galaxy that I need to tweak ... I'll do that one day.)

Yup .. they are from Barney's Farm. She smells awesome. I never thought of it as earthy but I'll give her another good inhale tomorrow cause it's lights out time now. I take her out of the tent and into some incandescent lights for just a few minutes to look at the trikes cause I find the LED's kind of fuck with the colours.

And when it comes out of the tent, within minutes my partner notices "that stinky stuff again!" Funny how some people hate that odour - but I love the smell of the developing cannabis flower. So R.D. definitely has a very pungent odour if she can smell it that quickly from one floor above.

As for smooth, I clipped some small pieces from underneath that wasn't getting much light as both a final little lollipop and as a taste tester. It came right off the plant and went right into the pipe - and it was still very smooth for totally uncured bud. Her calyxes are pretty dense too - a piece about the size of the nail of my little finger still gave me 4 good hits. It's just a bit too racy for my liking so that's why I want her to go a bit longer - but it was still very effective.

I can't wait to chop, dry and cure it the right way and to find out what she REALLY tastes like.

Despite some of the reviews I read before sprouting her, I have had very little difficulty growing this strain. I have had experience before and cultivating these girls really is just like riding a bike.

How far along is your R.D.?

Hey Love To Ski (If "at Alta" means the Canadian Rockies in the Banff/Lake Louise/Jasper areas - I am with you. Love that area of Canada!!)

Thanks for the kudo. Those nuggets are nice and dense.

That lady came from seed - Barney's Farm to be precise - ordered through True North. Dropped the seed into seed start mix on Aug 23rd, couple of drops of water on her daily and the cotyledons poked their little head out on the evening of August 26th. She went under actual veg conditions with 18 / 6 lighting schedule on the morning of Sept 1, 2018.

I normally veg for 6 weeks but this time, I vegged her for 48 days @ 18/6 so I could flip her to 12/12 on Oct 17th (I wonder why I chose that date ... hmm ... let me think ...) Topped her 2 weeks before switch to let some of the side branches catch up to the top cola. Naturally, the top cola still grew the most during the flower stretch phase.

Write-ups claim she flowers for 8 to 9 weeks which would put harvest between Dec 12th and Dec 19th. We are in cruise control now. It's plain distilled water for the duration and she's just finishing up nicely. Gobbling nutes out of the large fans and the trichomes are getting inspected daily.
