Recommend an aircooled reflector.?

I have been using the same reflectors over and over for a looong time. Some Daystars and Silverstars... I don't mess with success... haha.
So, I have no clue what the newer reflectors are like. I'm thinking better stuff has come out, but I have no clue.

I'm helping a friend with a setup... Looking for aircooled reflectors to run inline with 600 hps.

Can anyone recommend a good reflector?

SUNLIGHT SUPPLY BLOCKBUSTER 6".

If you want to see one look in my sig thread.

It was great until hot fuzz took it away with them. The filthy bastards.

Just read what happened in your grow thread. Gutted for you mate. That hood is your property though, they must give it back if they can't prove it is from the proceeds of crime (which as you don't serve up, I think they will struggle with). Bloody lying cheating politicians and their puppet plod picking on decent citizens - makes me mad!

Thanks for the concern B.

Unfortunately they seized it as it was being used for production. Along with the wilma4 pot I was using.

To be honest though they've made me a better grower because I've gone back to basics with my new setup and its working like a charm.

when selecting one just make sure you love the way the glass hinges for lamp replacement during the grow cycle. Remember that you have to be able to safly work over your plants without dropping the glass, which does happen with some of these hoods.

My magnum xxxl's are kind of a pain to slide the glass over to shove your arm up there to unscrew the lamps. They also are terrible as far as being truely sealed for air cooling them. I have to use metal tape to tape up every inch of those lights, from the glass onto the metal, then over each seam. They were blowing hot air in my room and using a ton of bottled co2 that I didn't need to be using.

Also, depeding on how many lights, I really wish I had gone with 8" air flanges instaead of 6", the bigger fan would help I think.

<--- getting a yield master supreme or SS blazer today. Over the weak light spread of my cooltube and like the idea of the thumb screws, hinges, catch cords and being tested so they r COMPLETELY sealed. I looked @ a few hydrofarm hoods yesterday and the frame for the glass just looked like a mess to deal with. Not to mention the shop wanted $195 for a radiant 6".
Anywho.. my vote is for a sunlight supply hood bc of simplicity and safety features.. hope it helps... keep. It green!

Oh.. and the 5 yr warranty:-)

two of the best in my opinions are the Raptor 8'' or Magnum XXXL 8'' basically the same big ass hood just one made by hydrofarm and the other sun light supply.. They give you a big ass light foot print of 5' x 5'

The new magnums have hinges. and thumb screws. very simple to remove glass or change bulbs. I love my XXXLs. the 8 inch ones do leak a bit but this is easily fixed by adding a thicker neoprene gasket available at lowes in the door sweep section. It costs bout 3 dollars per fixture and they are sealed good. No messy taping of the joints. The older xxxls leak a lot worse than the new ones.

Yeah, I know exactly what you are saying. I remove the ducting opposite side of the bulb to reach in and replace bulbs/clean the glass. I also use foil tape to soil the reflector.
A reflector that actually sealed on its own perfectly without tape would be fucking amazing. Does such a thing exist?

6 lights, so yeah 8in prbly. I use 6in in my setup and definitely would prefer 8in... i use an 8 in fan to cool with a reducer.

Have you ran a 600hps with that size print? I have always ran about a 3.5 x 3.5 canopy... I wonder if an xxxl reflector and another row of plants would increase yield or just spread it out amongst lighter buds?

I'll check on the radiant as well... I like my daystar... it looks like a larger version of the daystar, pretty much.

Hey i dont mean to hijack the thread or anything but while everyone is on the subject of air cooled hoods, how drastic of a temperature change would you get switching from a batwing style reflector to a 6" air cooled hood? my room is running around 31°c with a 400w so i had to switch to floros until i get a new hood, im just worried it wont be able to lower the temps by the 6-8° I want (400cfm hydrofarm fan and passive intake)
