Recently sprouted seedling bent and not growing

Hi everyone,

First time grower and user on this site. Let me preface this by saying I'm quite anxious when it comes to gardening, and admittedly micromanage. I could very well be blowing my problem out of proportion, and if I am doing so, please let me know immediately LOL. Also, as you can probably tell by the length of my post, this hyper-attention to detail bleeds into my writing...

For the last few years I've been growing various vegetables, and with a rookie's green thumb decided to give cannabis a go. I'm growing King Crop Seeds' NYC Diesel feminized autos and will be starting the seedlings indoors and then moving them outside for late veg/flowering.

I began by soaking 2 seeds in room temperature water that had been allowed to sit for 24 hours. I allowed the seeds to soak for 14 hours. While doing this, I prepared two 2.5 gallon terra cotta pots by filling both with ProMix Organic Vegetable and Herb Mix and completely soaking the mixture with water. I allowed the soil to drain for 14 hours.

After the 14 hour soak, I made a 1/4" hole with a pencil and planted both seeds in their separate pots. Seeds were put into soil around 10:30 PM on Wednesday, April 26th. I then covered the pots with saran wrap and put them in a dark, warm spot. I should add that I have used this method for many types of other seeds from other plants, and it is almost 100% surefire in my experience.

One of the seeds sprouted this afternoon (Friday April 28th) and looks healthy - she's currently sitting happily on my south-facing windowsill getting 14 hours of sunlight a day (I know this isn't the optimal amount of light for a seedling and 24/7 is often recommended; currently waiting on my Amazon delivery for my supplemental light!). I'm not worried about her, and you shouldn't be either.

It's her sister that has me concerned. She popped above ground super quick, by Thursday, April 27th at 5:30 PM (less than 24 hours!). I was not expecting this, and as a result probably didn't get the saran wrap off/her into light quick enough. However, she popped with her helmet still on, and so I put the saran wrap back on overnight to keep the humidity up so that the seed casing wouldn't dry out and confine her growth. In retrospect, this was probably a mistake.

I woke up this morning at 7:30 AM to check on her and saw something I have NEVER seen in three years of growing. While the seed casing was still on her top, almost the entire tap root had somehow thrust itself out of the mixture and was laying across the soil exposed. It also had a bunch of fuzzy white matter along a significant portion of its taproot - in all honesty, this could have either been mold or the beginning of a root bundle. I didn't take a picture and therefore can't show you this - sorry everyone. She had also developed a kink in her stem, kind of shaped like an S. I also realised at this point that the temperature was a little too hot - around 85 degrees F or so.

Anyways, having researched methods of germinating the seeds first in paper towel, I was aware that you can still plant the seed after a large portion of its taproot has grown, and so I made a hole for the tap root and replanted her, being incredibly delicate the whole time. As I was transferring her, I noticed that the seed case had loosened enough that it could be removed, revealing two cotyledons that were slightly yellow and still closed together. She had a bend that made her almost horizontal, but I figured if I placed her in the sunlight for the day and went to work I could expect to come home to a healthier, straighter plant.

Well I'm home, and it doesn't seem much has changed. She is still bent almost completely horizontally, and the cotyledons have only opened slightly. Her sister, which popped just today, is straight and happy (and I should add has been growing in the EXACT SAME conditions). I'm very stumped. I've attached pictures of the straight and kinky plant, respectively.

My recommendation is the soil looks pretty moist put them under a lite and dont look at them for at least 2 days, they are bashful and want to be left alone to grow ;) if you are OCD growing weed is not a good idea lol take your meds and remember it is a weed it was on earth before you and will be here after you so it doesnt need much from you other than water and a bit of food from time to time assuming your not growing in organic soils.
