Hey G'day, had a terrible year with weather and bugs outdoors last year so I've decided to try move indoors with the hope I end up with some good smoko come harvest time.
Anyway, not looking to grow too much each run, 4 plants should be plenty. I went a little overkill with the tent (7x7) but all good, I'm happy I can fit in there and move around comfortably, can always downsize in the future.
Besides waiting on a speed controller I think I'm just about all set. Not growing for another few months or so but just getting everything squared away now.
Here's the equipment list; 840w full spectrum led light (2000hps equivalent), 6" exhaust fan with carbon filter, 6" intake with speed controller to keep slight neg pressure, 2 x clip on 6" fans, 1 pedestal floor fan, dehumidifier in middle of room. 4 x 7 gallon fabric pots on bases with wheels and drain trains. Plan to stay organic in dirt for first couple grows. Room has air-conditioning if required, I'm venting exhaust into roof and intake is drawing from the room grow tent is in. The environment is night and day to what I was dealing with outside last year.
My plan is to use those smaller pots (double the size of solo cups atleast) and then transplant to the final fabric 7 gal pots. Will top and do minimal LST for first run.
So this is my space, any suggestions or tips that may help me in my first attempt is much appreciated. Cheers.20230119_174944.jpg

Nice space, if your after zero smell you’re going to have to upgrade your fan a filter at some point, good luck happy growing …
Cheers you think the exhaust and filter isn't big enough to keep the smell contained? It sucks the tent in way too much without intake on but once speed controller turns up tomoz I'll be able to turn the intake down a little so still keeping neg pressure which I thought would keep smell sorted. Smell in house is okay, just not keen on letting it leave the house.

Lights not 2000w hps equivalent so I'd ignore that.
But should cover 5x5 minimum in flower.
Maybe 5.5x5.5 .

Good move on the bigger tent.
I'd of probably aimed for two different smaller lights so you can use 4x7 or 5x7 but that's me.

I advise you to keep temps 80+ f , especially in veg.

Any yeah that filter is a hobby filter.
See how it goes.

I just went on eyeballing the filter to your space, you want fan & filter rated about 519 CFM if you want a quieter setup go bigger so you can run fan at a lower setting …. ☮
No dramas, will see how she goes and upgrade down the line if not good enough mate. Does it matter I won't be filling the space though? Possibly she'll be okay for just 4 plants or it doesn't really work that way?

No probs, I guess not trusting manufacturers specs are similar to not believing flowering times advertised. I was planning to use the lights recommendations for distance from canopy and power level to work from atleast.
Either way with any luck it'll have no issues doing 4 plants. The lights dimensions are about 1100x1100mm.

Okay cheers, shouldn't ever be a drama keeping above 80f. It's currently that with nothing in there at the moment. Plan was to aim around 80f temps for entire grow and about 60% humidity in veg and around 40% in flower...will see how we go

How many plants could a hobby filter like that handle you reckon?

Looks like my fans are rated a little over 300cfm which appears just above what's recommended... using an online calculator for the size of my space but after adding carbon filter it is probably closer to 200 or so I guess.

4 plants for 800watt why not go a few more plants?
Maybe in the future but would be happy if I can get a few runs finished with 4 for now mate. The old man was doing 10 plants before but now just does 5 and gets more for less work. More than likely won't get it down pat like him but I still think 4 plants will provide enough for me without too much work...

It's not so much about plant count, just hobby filters are smaller in length, less carbon ,less airflow, last less time. You'll have to see how it goes.

What you planning on running in your new tent ? You had some cracking sativa outdoors if my mind serves me correctly…

Going to do a couple Lava Freeze seeds and the other two will be gushlato41 (gelato x gushers). One day will have another crack and run the Thai indoors or create a better outdoor environment so they get to completely finish off. They were little trees when I chopped them down a couple weeks ago.20221227_094109.jpg

Appreciate it will more than likely do a journal to help keep a record of everything. Got a bit of travelling to do first but surely I'll be hanging to get back home and start fresh come June thanks for helping. Cheers.

I was thinking I'll start off at 30" light height and follow manufacturer recommendations for power settings as a starting point and then try dial it in from there with a lux meter and by monitoring the plants...Here's the info sheet from the light. Cheers.20230120_095102.jpg

Just checking water source in new location as it's not coming fresh off the mountain now, so was expecting some issues but it looks to be fine coming from the filtered tap at the sink.20230120_110530.jpg
Quick slurry on the dirt looks to be coming along aswell.

G'day,
Not quite happy with temps in the tent. Looking for advice on upgrading the exhaust as I would like to turn intake fan up more but currently unable to as lose the negative pressure.

Considering replacing exhaust with a Mars Hydro 6" exhaust and filter or adding it to have two exhaust ports? What do you think? Cheers.
