Raw Meat Diet For Dogs

Does anybody feed their dogs an all raw meat diet? I have a 4 month old beagle pitt mix that has been on her new diet for about a month and she is loving it. Her coat is shiny, her skin isn't dry, decent smelling breath for a puppy, healthy looking stools, she is growing like crazy, and she seems to be quite intelligent for her age.

Her diet, although changing quickly, is a raw organic chicken quarter in the morning or about a pound of raw organic turkey hamburg depending on what i have. Lunch for her usually consist of a raw organic turkey neck with about a pound of raw organic stew beef. Dinner is where she gets her organ meats which for the time being has been cow liver mixed in with about a pound of either organic raw chicken, beef, or fish. She also gets 2-3 soft boiled eggs per week mixed in with her lunch.

I am trying to achieve a ratio of about 10% organ meats, 10-15% raw meat bones including her beef rib as a snack to provide calcium and clean her teeth, and 75-80% raw muscle meat. I am still dialing in on the organ meat because i am not sure what is healthiest quite yet.

Anyone with feedback would be greatly appreciated. I don't need people telling me that a raw meat diet is bad for dogs. I'm just looking for informed people who have been feeding raw to their pets that can help me expand my puppies diet to provide a long healthy life for her. Thank you

Here is a well explained video on raw meat diets for cats and dogs. So before you say its harmful or can cause worms think again. Unlike humans, dogs digestive systems are absolute machines designed to eat raw meat.

I do not do it personally, but I researched a lot and know some people who use it. It is a very good way to feed your dogs.
I feed my dog Taste of the Wild. It is a very good dog food, with a lot of meat in the make up. Most dog food is corn. What the heck is a dog supposed to do with corn?

I wouldnt do it personally for my cat though i buy good food, animals are like us, feed them properly and they will benefit.

iams, purnia and cheap food is the same to mcdonalds ect for us
feed someone cheap you will see weight gain grease ect
feed someone healthy you will see energy , healthy skin , hair ect

Also every once in a while i will cook and feed organic long grain brown rice, lightly steamed broccoli chopped into small pieces so it can be mixed with the turkey hamburg and brown rice. She wont eat the rice or veggies unless its mixed in with some kind of hamburg.

I want to incorporate tripe into her diet but havent got to that point yet

My cats need to eat a can of cat food at 6AM every morning.

If not, they bug the shit out of me until it happens.

Yeah most pet food is sawdust with ground up ex-racehorses mixed in with it. Most of the time the horses being slaughtered are sick, old, and full of nasty drugs. After the food is done it get sprayed on a conveyer belt with all the processed drippings of whatever animal was being slaughtered. The drippings include, stomach acids, greasy fats, feces, and urine. The worst part is the sawdust though because the dog will eat and eat till they vomit because they are starving for nutrients and then the sawdust expands lol

uhm i hate to break it to you but just about every slaughter house is like that including the ones you eat from...and organic half the time is a load of bullshit marketing plan for peopleto get suckered into its "organic earth loving ways" which arent organic at all

I was not aware that cats needed meat more than dogs but it does make sense. Judging by the dogs teeth and gut, i would say its an important factor in their diet as well. The life expectancy of a raw meat diet greatly outweighs the life of a kibble fed animal no doubt

dogs actually do not NEED (key words need) to eat meat at all actually, ( i am however no way saying they dont benefit from meat or aynthing like that)

Good info but i am aware and rather familiar with our food industry. I buy local as much as i can, farmers market once a week in my town and i have 2 butcher shops that get their meat locally. I also have a friend who works at an organic turkey farm and she gives me turkey hamburg, necks, and organs for free

Edit: And i get my eggs from my ex girlfriend's mom's free range chickens and geese.. For free!!!

right i was just commenting like i said im not saying they dont benefit the animal and im not preaching nor did i say anything against your use of raw meat diet, or organic ways was just conversing . I feel like youre being defensive for no reason lol possibly im readin too much into " I don't need people telling me that a raw meat diet is bad for dogs"

I knew someone once, old-school hippie, who had two Rough Collies whom she fed a vegan diet. It took a lot of work to prep their food and find good ingredients, but they were happy healthy animals. Cats otoh ... cn

oh yeah but it takes just as much effort making them any food not from a bag lol preparing animal food is a handful!

But doing it without animal-sourced anything made it harder. Dogs are even more on the meat-eating side of the omnivore spectrum (afaik) than us shaven apes. Iirc she had to do a fair bit of research and development before it was complete. I was impressed by her level of dedication. cn

i know when i first became vegan it seemed like a lot of dedication and research and time consuming effort now its just natural and comes quite easily soi get what you mean it does take time in the beginning honestly it was a huge pain in the butt for the first month or so
