Raising plants up instead of lowering lights?

My grow tent is set up in a way that I can't lower my 400w hps. My seedlings are about 4 feet from the light. I had this revelation that I could put a small table in my tent and raise the pots themselves. I can't see a reason this wouldn't work but I might just be stoned.

It'll be fine. It's very common to put things in the tent to lift the plants up toward the light. People who grow plants in varying stages of growth will elevate some plants, and leave the taller ones on the floor.

Thanks everyone I'm going to find a table tomorrow. I'm not going to place them too close and the temps are good in the tent. Excited for my plants to get some more adequate lighting!

For the little guys sometimes i'll just flip an old cleaned pot upside down. Last grow I ended up growing one all the way out like that, damn runt, would have been perfect for a micro cabinet grow
