rain and bud rot

I am presently 6 weeks into flowering on two of my plants and I'm pretty psyched about my harvest day in October. We have had a lot of rain the last week and it is only now starting to get sunny.

On a good inspection of my plants I found several small sites (around a pencil eraser size at biggest) of blackish or greyish mold on some buds. I clipped off the bad spots (in one case a small branch) and sprayed the amputation area lightly with a sulfur and water mixture. I`m going to be keeping a close eye on these area`s and the whole plant in general but does anyone else use this type of tactic for controlling mold in outdoor plants?

i use lemon juice n vinegar in water. drops the ph on plant so mold cant grow. remember the mold usually starts in the middle of bud, so make sure you get all of it out.....peace

Not that my method is the best, but every morning I go outside and give my plants a gently shake of each branch to shake off some of the morning dew. Also I use this practice after a rain. seems to help A LOT! good luck!

I saw this thread and also thought,that sucks man!Ive never had mold but heard of milk being used as mold and mildew preventative,not a cure but preventative.I do have a friend who grows outdoors,he puts a fan out on his plants after it rains,till dry.hope this helps.GOOD LUCK

I have been shaking the branches and trying do a little maintenance (if that is the right word), clipping dead material off etc... I'm confident I wont be losing a large amount of smoke and that I can control the problem.
This is such a needy plant to grow and make thrive, needs so much time and attention to bear its fruits. It reminds me of dating girls when I was in high school and trying to get laid. 6 long months of affection and patience to get the good stuff.

Well honestly mon can watch it all mon wants, if Mon are finding mold now IMO you shd chop the big colas as it will continue to do so. Mon is willing to bet if you found some there is more and more to come, two years ago Mon lost lots cuz Mon kept trying to wait longer and was cutting off mold etc.....When dried, found more we didn't see in some of biggest colas and lost at least hp each plant to mold. Last year as soon as I saw mold, I cut all the big colas off and left the smaller stuff a while longer, I only lost a tiny bit like under 1 oz total for all plants......

So this year, as soon as Mon see ANY mold all the big colas will be coming off, Mon notice indica seems to mold more than sativas as indcia is denser.

Chop it before it's too late, at least the large colas. Once it starts it doesn't stop.

You did a great amount by clipping it out all ready, if you can't see anymore than usually it'll be okay unless you get more rain and high humidity. I'm in Ontario and that's exactly the kind of weather I've had and sunny today and from now on (2 weeks) apparently. If your in the Eastern U.S. or Canada you should have an awesome October with plenty of fair weather to finish your flowering properly. Good luck and good job on not pulling them I was getting pretty nervous myself with all the down poring and drizzling. Plenty of people did from what I have heard, they must be kicking them selves with the late teens Celcius weather we've been getting lol.
