Quiet. The Neighbors Can Hear You (Sound Control Thread)

I have 2 tents in my bedroom there is a big of a buzz from lights and fans I live on the top floor,my new neighbors that live below me have 2 dogs that bark all day and night
So fuck them,my dogs are trained not to bark
But I run my tents 12-12 because I mostly grow autos these days
Autos on 12-12? Shame about Terry Munro!

It's pretty sad for Europeans the fan market is pretty damn old and outdated, so it's extremely hard to find a quality fan that is fast, quiet and even somewhat affordable.

I settled for S&P TD-SILENT 350 (125mm), it's pretty damn quiet but still lacks power to completely keep out all odor out of the tent. Well at least i can sleep next to my tent.

I just replaced my old vivosun 4in inline fan with an acinfinty t4. Since on paper its the same strength and half the noise. I always kept the vivosun below 50% on the dial temps were stable at 80. I have the ac infinity now setup at 100% and Temps are high 80s and the noise is so loud!
Any idea why this would be? Makes no sense to me. Lung room Temps are consistent 68-72.
Thanks

there are many threads about odor control but one thing that is often overlooked is sound control. sound from buzzing ballasts, inline fans, wall-mounted fans, hydro pumps and/or many other things could be a contributing factor to someone finding out about your secret garden. worst part is that you wouldnt even know that they know! so if anyone has any ideas for sound control post them on here...
Absolutely. I always said. There is nothing more suspicious, then a big back tent super noisy...

I’m not worried about sound. My house is a mausoleum and the neighbors are rarely there (I never see them).

What I do worry about is odor. Smell is a dead giveaway that you aren’t exactly growing oregano. A good carbon scrubber is a huge help.

I actually had to opt for a cheap old school metal 6in in-line (ipower) and yeah this mf is loud af, I’m going to replace it with an ac infinity probably the month after next still gotta setup the veg/mom tent/closet and that’s more urgent.

Running a PrimaKlima Whisperblower EC/TC with two silencers and added a layer of Aluminum Butyl that's normally used for keeping the vibrations in your car in check.

At ~30% it is super silent. You can only hear a very silent humming noise even if you stand directly next to it.

Held my phone about an inch or two next to it and it measured 40db - that's either pretty nuts or a sign that I have to get a new phone.

I admit: running it at 40% or higher is still a bit noisy without a box, but as it is rn, I only hear some humming and it's not annoying at all.
You could sleep next to that thing without a problem... And I am pretty darn sensitive to noise, since I have tinnitus on both ears.

regards, sh0

My air pump for my bubblers sounded like a little petrol engine running, so I made small box with 3 baffles to muffle it with a small double pc fan to blow air in with a thermometer to keep a eye on how hot it gets inside, u can hardly hear it running, but there’s still a little hum from the vibrations but it’s about 90% quieter than it was I tried a few methods of standing it on foam / polystyrene and anti vibration pads for washing machines but the brushes seem to work the best so far IMG_7673.jpegIMG_8002.jpegIMG_8459.jpegIMG_8461.jpegIMG_8462.jpeg

Just came here to say that the difference that replacing 10' of scrunched up black flex duct with a 2' section of rigid ducting made all the difference in the world. I now cannot notice the 4x8 tent over the dehumidifier in my basement!
