Quick question to make sure I don't shock myself

So i bought this inline fan:

The guy said for me to just plug it directly into a power source and im good to go (obviously with the necessary connectors). He also told me hooking one of the knob dimmers is the way to control the fan speed.

I'd love to listen to him unconditionally, but I don't want a fire or anything happening because I didnt take enough precaution.

So, is this guy correct? I felt like I needed some sort of transformer for it, but perhaps it was built to just go off the standard house voltage

I use a dimmer switch on my fans, I've never had an issue because of it...good luck.

No transformer is needed. It will probably have 2 black wires and if it does, it doesn't matter which one you hook up to what.
If you use a 3 wire cord to it then you can hook up the ground or green wire to the metal case with a screw if you want.
I can't advise you on the proper dimmer.

That fan is not made for a dimmer and you will want it to go as fast as it can. Then you will want a bigger, better one.I have 2 of these,they are ok for the money but the motor will get hot if you dim it.

I don't want to beat a dead horse here but for future reference, you can get a 240cfm model on ebay for 30.95.

There is also a 420 cfm for 33.95 and it is a "buy now for 33.95 or best offer" deal. Usually you can get a "best offer" for up to 10% off. You can then reduce it to 6". It is a better fan and actually pretty quiet.

I went to HD to get the fan you got but when I found out it had to be ordered I started looking elsewhere. :peace:
