Quick question on 240-2100B

So this driver, HLG-240H-C2100B can run very well 3 VERO36-38v CobS. but if I wanted to run 6 & splitter current, would I just run 2 strings of 3 off the pos and neg wires? splitting the main driver wires in to 2 lines on each?

parallel strings on constant current drivers is generally not recommended as there is no voltage limitation and thermal runaway is possible, in theory.

the practical answer is it will "probably" work

Well I'd be running them at only 37 watts at that point so I guess a failsafe would be to use 60-70w pin HEATSINKS just in case?

bigger heatsinks will never hurt you and we underuse them. like a 120mm pinfin we spec at 50W would probably keep a cob from blowing up at 100W+. in reality those veros are $23 cobs so it wouldnt be the end of the world to blow one

I've done this with V18's. I had 9 of them running off of the A version of your driver. Worked just fine. Here's a page that helped: http://www.ledsupply.com/blog/wiring-leds-correctly-series-parallel-circuits-explained/

You could run into an issue if say, you had a fan blowing across the heat sinks of one string and not the other. This would cause one string to run at a slightly different voltage, and could lead to a thermal issue. If you can make sure they all run at the same temp, you should be okay. I wouldn't want to be constantly worried about my light failing though, just grab a CV model and run them all parallel, or a lower current CC model.

I would but the driver is just sitting there.. But ya. I wanna build a new light with 16 points of light. Might need to use citizens for that. But I'd use a new 480 model in 1750 or maybe 1400 & possibly buy another 240 of the same current to finish the rest of them.
