Quick question about grow room setup

Good morning or afternoon depending on where you're at... I just joined this forum last night and I'm starting to get serious about growing. I apologize if this is a sad excuse for a repost, as the search functon seems to be working against me (shows page not found....hmmm). So, I am building a grow room from this setup of shelves that was previously in my house, if I could explain it I would, but maybe I'll post pics if needed. Anyways, is a grow height of 54" too short for a common setup? I'm planning on just using 1*400 watt HPS and MH bulb setup. My grow floor space is 4' x 2'. I don't plan on starting any bigger than this setup other than if I need more height. Also, from what I've been reading I'll need a good exhaust fan, etc. to make sure it doesn't get too hot. If you need add'l details I'll be happy to provide. What do you guys think?

In my humble opinion, If you grow INDICA, you have enough HEIGHT space.
With HID lights, you do need a VENT, and a fan and a way of pulling out the HEAT.

Remember your space has to be capable to hide all light, for the DARK period of BLOOMING.
And remember to spray a good pesticide around the corners of the space, baseboard and walls, to prevent Spider Mites. I use HOMEGUARD from Lowes or Home Depot. The spider mites are miraculous about finding a wet damp dark place.
Good Luck, are you doing SOIL or HYDRO?

Thanks for the information. I'll be using a soil grow just for ease of use. In terms of light proofing this little space I'll think I'll be OK. I have a small amount of skills into carpentry, and I'm going make sure to keep the area dry. There is a dehumidifer that I run occasionally so, maybe I'll turn that on.

I've dabbled a bit into this, but only got so far because I was using two florescents from Wally world, so yeah, you can imagine.

I'm pretty stoked because this is my first time really giving this a go. Any other input would be appreciated, but I think I'm good to go guys! Wish me luck...
