Quick LST question

So I started a new plant recently and its currently 5 weeks old. Just wondering if it’s best to start LST at an age or number of leaf sets?
Also, would using wire hangers to bend and hold it down make it more difficult to transfer to its final pot or should I wait until it’s in the final pot to begin? Currently in 1 gal and will eventually be put into a 5 gal. I read the LST guide it just didn’t specify when to start.

Thanks for your time!

Shes ready to begin training . You can do it both ways, either transplant into final pot and then begin tying down branches or start LST now and just unhook your wires when you transplant, re-tie everything afterwards.

Ive done it both ways, obv it makes transplanting a little more difficult if shes tied down before transplant, but nothing too serious. Just unhook branches, transplant and re hook

Ok thanks! If I were to go ahead and transplant to the 5 gal would it be a bad idea that I just transplanted to the 1 gal a couple days ago? Don’t want to over stress it.

Are you going to top or fim it before you start lst?
Idk I planned to stick to just tying down the top as this is only my 2nd grow. Would it be more beneficial to top/fim before tying down? Just don’t have experience with hst.

I would top or fim it first, then lst.

You can top and STILL veg a bit in that pot to get her starting to form .

Let her get a bit more structure before transplant.

When tieing down or lst-ing, are you doing that for a canopy shape or space? Whats the benefits?

Both. Bending and tying the top allows the plants auxin hormone to make the lower branches shoot up allowing the plant to have multiple colas instead of one main cola at the top. Also allows light to penetrate better and lets you control the height of the plant. Increased yields. I usually want to make my plants main stem to grow in a sort of spiral staircase shape.

Whats the point of the grid over the plants?
For scrog you keep tucking the new growth under the net until you fill the net. At that point you flip the lights and then you keep tucking for two weeks
It keeps all your tops basically the same height and you get a far better yield because all the growth is now top colas and you get better light penetration and less of that Larfy small buds on the bottom of plants.
