Quick Lighting Question...

I have 3 little seedlings about 4 inches tall all under a 23watt cfl, this is my first grow ever

when they hit the veg stage im going to use one 400w Ceramic metal halide bulb

it runs on hps ballasts and looks like an hps bulb, only unlike metal halide and hps they have a full spectrum....'
'
i hear people talking about using metal halide and hps bulbs together to create a full spectrum....why not just use a cmh?

ive looked into them alot and they seem alot better than any other method, mh hps cfl led etc...

does anyone else use CMH??

You could just go get a switchable ballast, and a metal halide and a HPS bulb, seeing as the veg cycle takes more of the blue spectrum, and flowering takes more of the red spectrum.

I really wanna use the CHM cause i dont really wanna have to bother with switching out the bulbs and possibly breakin somethin or screwin up the cycle and having to buy two bulbs since the spectrum allows me to use it for both stages, all stages i guess, plus i already got one

the one named "spectrum.jps" is the Ceramic metal halide spectrum and the MH and HPS spectrums are named.

I bought it from a local hydro store owner/grower who uses strictly CMH bulbs and i smoked some of his homegrown when i went and bought the bulb(no joke) and it was amazing, looked great, smoked smelled and tasted great and layed me out. he showed me a setup he had that was growing tomatoes and it was really nice, he makes all his own hoods and ballasts and stuff so im gonna buy those from him to, makes his own nutes too picked some of those up and he also swears by coconut coir fiber so im gonna give it a go. If he can do it im sure i can figure somethin out..

I prefer the switchable cause Veg cycle uses spectrum that is produced by the MH bulb, and flowering uses the spectrum produced by the HPS bulb. Rather than using the one your talking about, which im sure is a convergence bulb or something, so it's putting out 2 spectrums instead of 1, which im sure also has side effects on how much of each spectrum is produced.

i got some seedlings under a 400w cmh less than a week now since they broke ground and they are eight inches from the bulb with a temp on ground of 75 degrees F. CMH is so bad ass!
