You're never better off flowering with T5HO over HPS.

40-45W/sqft for T5HO and 50-60 for HPS? What a load of shit. Not only is HPS more efficient, the spectrum is way better for flowering. More like 40-50W/sqft for HPS and 60-70W/sqft for T5.

I suspect you've never actually grown with HPS.
I suspect you've never flowered under HO T5. @RM3 might have a few things to say about relative efficiency between them and HPS- namely that they're roughly equivalent.

And you will not win any argument about the superiority of HPS spectrum over that of well chosen T5 with me...

I'll go this far with you; florescent light isn't as scalable, and efficiency similarities don't change that fact.

I have flowered coffin style with T-8s a long long time ago, and it took longer than usual to flower, even though I was using like 500W of tubes in a very small area. I went back to using my 400W HPS. This was sometime around 2004.

T5 has gotten better since then- but since both are eclipsed and outclassed by COB LED, it's not worth the splitting of hairs to me, lol

I wrote a reply but this sums it up for me exactly.
