quick help please

i just got 3 seeds today....my parents are not cool with me growing weed....but if its already grown im sure they will let me keep it....
so i gota keep it secret until it grows awhile.
anyway..ive never grown before...ive been tryin to read up and watch vids etc...
all sounds like advice for more serius growers

i just wana grow 3 plants in my cupboard....
ok this is wat im gonna do...tell me if im doing anything wrong

gonna put the seeds in a wet towel for 2 days....
then get 3 pots....add soil and seeds.....
put them in my cubaord....setup a cable to the inside of my cupboard....
and atach a lightbulb and somehow hang it 10cm above the plant

any soil is fine right?(soil my mum uses for her plants for example)
and im havin a problem deciding wat bulb to buy
im quite poor so i cant spend alot of money on it
and im not a serius grower so it dont have to be pro

wat else should i do...

Alrighty Dave, you've decided to grow the glorious plant we call marijuana, it's where we all began, but you've got a slight journey ahead of you. Firstly, assuming this is your first grow, how much have you read up? Check the newbie thread, there's some real gold there. I'll link you up at the end of this post. Secondly let's get some dimensions for your grow space. I'll spare you my massive "spiel" on the basics of growing pot, cuz let's face it theres several routes you can take, and several more within those. If it is your first grow I strongly suggest growing in soil. Hydro growers will throw a tonne of benefits of their way at you if you ask them, but straight up, theres too much that can go wrong with hydro, especially for your first time. Soil and flourescents for your first shot is what i suggest, it's how i started so go figure. Best of luck with it, and keep me posted once you start.

haha yea ive read most of this already...im just having problem with 1 thing to be honest....the lighting.....im gonna have 3 pots....close to each other....

Compact fluorescents, two 95 or 105 watters. Warm and daylight or cool spectrum. Two lamps like that will provide you close to 12000 initial lumens.
They're usually in between 60-100$ each, but hell, you get what you pay for.

well im admit im an beginner to. but im only getting a 125w floro from ebay for 45 shipped 65kelvins and if its not warm enough i will put 60w house light on it. it keeps em nice and comfortable.

also about the germination. i got 2 humbolt orange seeds out of a sack and theyre really nice seeds light brown with white specs. so i put em under a 60w house hold light for 24hrs. i had the seeds in a paper towel in a glass half an inch of water and bam they popped up the next morning.

do you have a fixture yet?
just get a reptile fixture if you dont have one go to a pet store lol

ahh..im lookin to spend as little as posible...and im not even lookin for super weed.....(well i dont mind) but im not spending over 10 pounds for my lighting.....and im gonna have problem with this.....i think i might just wait a while and do it later....the seeds will be ok if i just keep them in my pocket for a month or 2?

sorry i had to do that, who is robbing you're wallet?
i can buy a 2600 lumen soft white bulb for 8 dollars, and a clamp reflective fixuture for about 7 dollars.

David - use the highest watt cfl you can afford, i dont know whats available where you live but at the homedepot hqardware stores here they are as cheap as i said, look at my gallery and you will see pictures of my lights, a CFL are the spiral energy saving bulbs called compact floro's, have it less than 1 inch from the top of your plants. i think 1 inch is 3 cm.

get some flos what ever you can aford and i whould give them more than 2 days in the towel 5-6 days then in to the soil with a good watering and leave them for a week under the lights...good luck
