Quick Carbon filter question

I know it's bad to put a fan that's CFM exceeds the filter but is it okay to use a filter that has a higher CFM than the fan?

The filter Im looking at is 310 CFM and the fan is 240

A higher cfm rated filter on a lower cfm rated fan will be less drag on the fan, and also you can buy fan controllers to slow down the fans, lowering the cfm's.
