questions on cloning under hid

i have a 1000watt sunsystem light about 4 foot above my 40 little babies. humidity is around 30 percent and the temp is about 78. they are in botanicare cloner. my question is should i not use a high pressure light on my clones the leaves appear to wilting a lot more and everything seems to keep drying up faster. i figured this would be easier and better because of the amount of light and because i would not have to get the clones adjusted to the light when they were ready to veg. ive always used the humidity dome and cfl to root clones. Did i go over board?

Unless you can back that light off another foot or two, I'd go spend $10 on a cheap shoplight at Walmart or someplace like that. They'll work much better. :)

Best light for cloning is almost always a nice cool white CFL tube an inch away. You won't find a more forgiving root-generating setup, especially if you use rockwool.

But besides that I probably wouldn't try to clone under anything but a 400w or less metal hallide nice and far away. I doubt an HPS would do too well. Not enough blue.

your exactly right i switch the light and clones are responding a lot better. Leaves are not drooping but this botanicare cloner sucks.

:clap::clap: Yeah, That ^^^^^^^^

Clones need very little light and a 2 tube shop light 18-24" above them is about perfect.

That light is waaaay overboard.:bigjoint:

Definelty. The ambient light from the hps would still be too much, simple cfl a few inches above or a t5 tube around a foot above will not only save power but won't kill your clones
