question with these boveda packets??

hey guys, I was looking at a thread and a couple youtubes of these boveda humidipacks, I'm not sure if what I'm understand is that you can just pluck the buds from the plant, trim them and jar with the boveda packets and it will automaticly go from perfect dry to perfect cure???
looking to e bay a lot of stuff im gunna be needing n wanna get the info on these packs, seems very good.
thanks!

your time and results may vary:
cut and hang for 3-5+ days until stems snap but not break
cut and trim from branches
place in jars with 62% broveda packs and insert temp/rh gauge\
burp 1-2 x per day until rh stabilizes at about 55% rh. then curing is done.

If you are using the proper number of 62% bovedas in a sealed environment, RH will stay at 62%.

ok here me out. if I take a1/2 gal mason jar, and fill 3/4 full of flowers that are crisp outside but still moist on the inside, then place 2 62% humidity packs inside, and seal the jar. 30-1hr later the jar's internal humidity will be FAR greater than 62%. the humidity packs can only absorb so much moisture and release so much as well. this is the reason why we need to burp the jars a few times a day for weeks on end to achieve that perfect cure zone.

sadly, your not going to achieve this simply by taking your flowers, tossing them inot a jar and adding packs and thinking the broveda packs are going to do the curing work magically.

I may not be an expert grower, but I have 3 harvests under my belt. by the quality as well as yield, id say im doing pretty damn good for myself.

I use them with good results. Bottles I have that are over 6 months still are at 62%. When I grind the buds they are soft and fluffy with a nice strong smell.

I cure mine by removing the fresh buds from the stems then put them in a paper bag, gently mix every day til the outside of the bud is crisp, then bottle with the humidipaks. I burp the bottles every day until humidity is 65-66% or so, then open them every few days whenever I think of it or pull a bud out to test the cure. :bigjoint:

I do not have the same jar with humidity gauge on top by since I have started using Boveda I have been very happy with the results.

I was actually looking at getting a few of those caps. Do you all like them compared to a typical rh meter? Does the boveda packs affect the smell/taste profile any? I prefer to be as natural as possible.

Its my experience that they affect neither smell or taste. Keep in mind that Boveda was originally for various tobaccos. They recently branched in to the Med MJ market. If it affected the taste or smell then it would affect the tobaccos as well.

Cheap analog humidity gauges are notoriously inaccurate. Skip the lids with shitty hygrometers attached, and buy the Hygroset II digital models if you want to use something like that.

Boveda packets will stabilize the moisture level in your jars over time. They won't turn wet buds cured overnight, but they do lessen or eliminate the need for burping as long as you dry your buds properly before jarring them. Expect the RH to spike for the first few days or a week, that's normal. Unless you see condensation inside the jar, or unless you live somewhere with higher than average mold risk, burping isn't necessary. Do it manually if you want, but the boveda packet will do it for you if you leave it alone for a week or two.
