Question on mainlining/nugbucket

So I been trying learn mainlining and somehow ended up with 12 tops and it’s going great. But now I’m confused on if I am supposed delete all the new shoots that develops. Or just keep it and prune the fan leaves. I did do some supercropping on the one tops that was growing tall but that cause the new shoots to shoot up and know it is about size of a new top.
Personally I think mainlining is not the most effective technique for control/manipulation of canopy. I have experimented with it in the past and it sets you back a good amount of time and isn’t the only way to accomplish said goal. I would advise against it.

Yeah I was turned off by the slow veg rate even with high frequency feeding in coco. I think next time I am just gonna do Sog with few plant and veg for month then just flip it. Maybe it will work better in hydro.

Mine was 42 days at flip only because I was worried about how big they were going to get. If they double in size they’re going to be huge.
My 16 top is a monster, they got way big on the flip, all strains I have going right now. I cut some colas this weekend so some side branches can finish, I did the 16 to the fastest grower and left the rest at 8, the 16 was twice the size of anything. Will be interesting to see the yield.

I cheated and trained some of mine back toward the middle of the plant as to not waste the space. I could see they were going to be monsters. I may only do 8 next time as well

I know better now if I did it again, I cut more out then I kept really if I think about it, I also had 2 plants I couldn’t get to anymore so they suffered some larf. I’m going to mainline 2 plants on one side next run, from clone this time. 4 from seed on the other side with some traditional training. My cookies kush has 8 nice spears and grew very even overall. My canopy can be crazy as I end up setting the 1k DE at 9.5 feet and leaving it by the flip.

I used wire and whatever else I needed to put the tops where I wanted, moved them into the middle and out alternating kinda, ended up giving them room anyways, the killer part was the huge buds on the side branches right under, my room game was game over lol. I will post a pic on the antler in my journal when I cut it.

I also didn’t strip some of my lower leaves. Some of them were huge and felt like it was too early to trim them. So I guess I’m doing a modified mainline :bigjoint:

Let er veg, once you flip to flower let it go and create all the leaves And shoots you can for 3 weeks 18-21 days and take off everything below the main canopy, be careful because it can herm on you. I like to do this process over 2-3 waterings (trim some shoots and leaves and water) and repeat few days later

You realize we’re mainlining?

I kept my 4 OG fans for along time, they had stems like branches.

I see, you’re worried about more than 8 shoots, or creating anymore from the topping, honestly if you have The space you could go as big as you wanted with the right size pot and nutrient regimen. I’d just judge based on your grow area, if they are too close for comfort about a week or two into flower that’d be the time to clear that space

I’m anxious to see what they look like after stretch. Then I will evaluate like you suggested. This is my first photo grow. I’ve mainlined some autos but they flipped themselves bongsmilie

How you getting on? Im on my first mainline and I hit stretch last week and it's flying up, but I've come to the point we're im questioning the side shoots also, like said previously when looking at mainlined plants theirs no side shoots to be seen. How did u go about it in the end?

What did you do with the side shoots? I've been trimming them off every day or two, but they grow two new shoots everytime I trim the current ones. Grows up making two more nodes and sends two new shoots up.
